b_a_t
Hello guys... i'd like to thank you all for your inspiration, as I follow your thread since one month, I finally built my portable TT, from a CROSLEY/ION/NUMARK PT-01 Cruiser.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00990Z13S/ref=s9_acsd_al_bw_c_x_3http://www.thomann.de/fr/numark_pt_01_touring.htm?gclid=CJ7YtZmL_MsCFdUW0wodPQUICghttps://www.amazon.fr/Vinyl-Transport-Tourne-disque-haut-parleurs-fonctionne/dp/B00WG3OXH0?ie=UTF8&creative=22686&creativeASIN=B00WG3OXH0&hvdev=c&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=&linkCode=df0&ref_=asc_df_B00WG3OXH033063753&tag=googshopfr-21 Added start/stop button, Aux volume knob, vinyl volume knob, frisk fader. (and a fader-through switch for DVS use so the audio goes in the soundcard before the frisk fader since it is mono...) https://www.dropbox.com/s/jmropm46h4rcnjy/IMG_2784.JPG?dl=0 Things to come :-some more audio routing (dvs controled audio inputs that will routed on the existing volume knobs)-M44-7 mount-pitch fader (found an adjustable pot on the motor board next to the 33-45-78 switch that just needs to be replaced ! )-frisk fader replacement. So I am looking for a way to put some mini innofader inside but there are several thing I don't understand because of my not being properly English speaking, and I'm a total noob in electronics. I just need someone to explain me briefly what makes it so difficult to integrate it. (power inputs ?) Thanks again Edited April 7, 2016 by b_a_t
Guest rasteri
Nice work! The reason you can't use a mini innofader is because it's not really a proper potentiometer, it just generates a voltage proportional to the fader position. It's intended for use in VCA mixers. I believe the Innofader Pro can be used like a normal potentiometer, do you think that would fit inside the PT-01?
b_a_t
Thanks for your quick answer RASTERI as you seem to be king in here ! I don't know for the PT-01 since i tried to get one, but could not find any to be shipped to France, yet did not want to do the battery modification, so i bought the PT-01 "touring" for 79€... (which is powered by kind of a mobile phone battery) and there's plenty of space : box is almost empty, it's 23,5*33 and 5 cm deep. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rkcvmjlsyd9xj98/IMG_2785.JPG?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/emggsrii69o59d8/IMG_2786.JPG?dl=0 I'm even thinking about putting in a traktor scratch audio 6 and 6 knobs, 4 buttons midi controlled by a livid brain-jr (http://shop.lividinstruments.com/brain-jr/) with a slight USB modification so i only have to plug 1 cable to the box ! I can't do your USB modification trick to power the innofader since the battery needs it as a power supply so i'll have to find another way. I heard there was a way to connect the innofader pro to non-vca mixers but i can't find how much power it needs... (or I don't know how to use Google...) Guest rasteri
The innofader pro runs on a huge voltage range (it's like 3v-30v) so you'll be fine powering it straight from wherever you can find a supply inside the pt-01 touring. I don't know exactly how to wire up the pro but I believe the latest scratchophone revision works like that - maybe speak to Thierry? I'll try that (and the guy is French so that should be a bit easier too ! ).I guess i'll be ordering the innofader pro one of these days and will let you know how it works... SeresOfSDS
Hey guys!A little bit off topic, but did anyone here had to replace the motor of the pt01? I googled it, but no luck.. don't get me wrong, mine's working pretty well, but if the time comes I would like to know that it is possible or just better to buy a new one. Mutis Mayfield
I think is a common part no specific to numark. In the pics you could see the specs (right?) and go to local electronic shop and buy a replacement.

Mutis Mayfield
Mutis Mayfield, thanks for the answer!! It's cleared out so many concerns I had hahaaLook inside yours (and take notes) to be sure but is a DC motor (two wires from the pic) and I remember seen lots of them in bigger sizes even at my regular local electronics shop visits.
Djmadhatter
I got myself one of flesh_one's 3D printed tonearms and some platter bars both items are so good I highly recommend them especially the platter bars Thought I'd also share this idea I had to secure my nanofader board and pre amp it worked out greatI found these little nylon spacer screw things on ebay and drilled a couple of holes into the Pt-01's bodyboth boards are now very well secured in there check it out http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281723416650?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

indigno80
I noticed today that my numark pt01 engine , is beginning to drop black oil. The oil is smearing me the slipmats and vinyls...Anyone else with this problem? Edited June 1, 2016 by indigno80

Mutis Mayfield
how can I go about grounding my start/stop button?I'm not 100% sure due I haven't open my friend unit yet (he is my reason for find me here xD) Do you have a electronic tester? Checking the continuity and solder points. Maybe they are not fine and adding some noise. Could you upload some pics please?
iexist
no tester.. would come in handy for sure. can post pics soon.
iexist
I still have some minor buzzing after adding my start/stop mod via djmadhatter.. I got in touch with another "portablist" who added a button via this method, http://www.beatshelter.com/?p=883. makes me wonder if I should not have disconnected the original button piece..?
Djmadhatter
I never had any buzzing from my start stop button mod I'm not sure what you've done there I actually wonder if its caused by something elseflesh_one's mod is essentially the same do you still have the usb board in your PT01 ?I highly recommend disconnecting it remove all the wires and you can unscrew and remove the entire board this is the only thing thats ever given me issues with buzzing and it seems to be the case with everyonethe usb board is a piece of crap and causes alot of interference
iexist
I haven't messed with the usb board at all.. followed your tutorial. I'm wondering if it's shoddy wires or my shoddy button..? no way to test on my end.
iexist
Reached out to underkut and any grounding would need to connect under the platter. http://s1053.photobucket.com/user/Djmadhatter0z/media/20160203_193933_zpskejycvyb.jpg.html
Djabeone
I recently installed an angel eye led start/stop button on my pt-01, but it seems to draw out the power from the motor. So my platter speed is out of whack, i followed flesh one's method from beat shelter. Should I wire it differently? Or do i need to add another component to give more power and how would i do that? https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10205777751276528&id=1638940142&set=a.1133644554835.19585.1638940142&source=48 Edited July 31, 2016 by Djabeone
Mutis Mayfield
It's due extra led. Maybe you can drain the energy for the led from another point not in the same line of motor feed.
