  2. I've been playing a racing game called Trail Out. It's a budget game created by a core dev team comprised of just 4 people. It doesn't have particularly high production values, but it reminds me of older arcade racers like Burnout and FlatOut. It's just silly mayhem a lot of the time, ramming other racers until their cars blow up, and using nitrous to fly past everyone into first place. The story and voice acting are bad in a good way; the game feels like a parody, even if that was not intentional. There's a bunch of stuff to unlock, various different types of races and events, including demolition derby, and overall you get a decent amount of content for your money, with more supposedly on the way. A large free update to the game is supposedly coming very soon that will add new modes, a new map with dynamic weather/time of day, new cars, and various other improvements. The main focus is on the single player campaign, but there's also other single player modes and local multiplayer for 2-4 people. The game has no online racing at all, which kinda sucks cos I think it would be a ton of fun to play with/against real players, but as far as I can tell, they have no plans to add it. It's been out on PC for a while, has just come to Xbox Series consoles (although unfortunately, not on Game Pass), and is supposedly coming to PS5 later this year. If you're looking for a highly polished experience, you want a sim racer, or you want to play online with friends, this won't be for you, but if you want to reminisce back to the days of fun arcade racers it's worth picking up IMO. Trailer: - This is the original trailer from 2022. They have improved the game's performance a fair bit since then, although it's still kinda janky at times, particularly when there's a ton of stuff going on.
  3. anyone got a broken EMX1? I want it for the KLM 2369 output circuit board.. the outputs on my machine are fucked and i have loads of music id like to make into a looper on it..
  4. Did you see Apple apparently filed a patent modifying AirPods with electrodes that can read you mind. There have been some advancement in this type of tech and it's definitely not ready for prime time but they are getting out in front of it nonetheless.
  5. I understand the vision, which is going beyond the smartphone and replacing it, but I can't see the tech getting there any time soon. MKBHD's review led to a wider conversation about the ethics of reviews, given that people with his level of influence could potentially kill a startup, but to me, as long as there's no conflicts of interest and the reviewer is behind honest, I have no problem with a small company getting their product stomped on if it sucks ass. That's what reviewers should do - not make excuses based on what a future version of the product might be like (and probably never will).

  8. I don't see that lasting long since surely phones will have this soon. Seems neat in a mostly pointless way.
  9. yeh for sure it feels quite niche, for some reason i've always wanted one, probably as i like to make life harder for myself. The price definitely isnt something I was looking for but my whole set up is 2x1200's, the rotary, and the s2400. so im going stripped back but high quality.
  10. I believe he's still using an Isonoe ISO420.
  11. Anyone know what kind does Mr. Scruff use? Thats the only gigging DJ I recall regularly using one.
  12. rotary mixers are fun. its a different experience than traditional battle mixers. I got a cheap one by subzero which is a cheaper clone of the omnitronic rotary mixers. Im sure the sound quality is not up to par as the master sounds but it sounds just as good if not better than my rane 72. i only paid about $300 for that subzero rotary. but i only pull it out maybe twice a year. so I couldnt see spending the pricey amounts for the boutique rotaries.
  13. R.I.P. Mister Cee. 57 is too young to die damn...
  14. Direct drive over usb power? I will love to see more of its guts.
  15. Not DJ-related, but a pretty cool, albeit expensive record player. Shame you can't swap the cart and you can only get replacement styli from Miniot though.
  16. Hehe, indeed. Gonna wire it up tomorrow with an Arduino to do some quick/initial testing and impressions. So far I'm in the "I like it" boat. The scratch feels nice (even better after some cleaning/lube) and there's soooo much additional room to play with after that. Also feels really solid with the beefy rails too. My daily driver has been a Rane Mag fader (not the Mag four) and it feels a bit rickety/wobbly with the parallel thin rails.
  17. Ho-ree-shit that's massive. Interested to hear how it pans out for you.
  18. Managed to find an Alps K-Series that is 10k linear. Holy moly it's big (100mm)! Even though the 60mm Alps enclosure is only a touch longer than the 45mm, I have lined up the throws so you can see where they all end up. I wonder if *over double* the throw of the 45mm is too much, but if I'm gonna go in for a penny, may as well go in for a pound... I have to say that even with the generic lube/grease on it, the 100mm Alps feels quite nice. If I rock the enclosure back and forth the fader will go from edge-to-edge. Will take it apart and clean/lube it with some proper fader lube, but I'm hopeful.
  19. Yeah I really liked the look of the Two Valve mk2. If I was actually dj’ing I’d get one of these wanky mixers to use.
  20. R to the I to the P to the DJ Mister Cee.
  21. He passed away yesterday, aged 57. No cause of death has been given. R.I.P.
  22. thats enlightening. I watch these guys - https://www.youtube.com/@RKG/featured their whole thing is that one of them is good but doesnt play, he just knows the lore inside out, one is there for banter and rory (the player) is shit at dark souls type games so its basically him being an idiot. mostly its funny, but also sometimes its 2 hours of him trying to beat a boss. and thats edited down, i think it actually takes all day. I think this too. like for fun and stuff i get it, especially the social side of it all. but like we're saying, if its taking hours / days / weeks to progress then I'd rather put my time into something else. and i dont even have kids or anything!
  23. I agree. Games are too hard. Not all but a lot. If it has a long learning curve, requires me to be fast or remember a lot, or if I die constantly then just gonna play something else. I don't have time to be good at videogames. That all said, embarrassingly I'm playing Clash Royale lately. Largely just to beat my son and his friends. I suck but apparently used to play and am in a clan... which is weird because I don't recall that at all... maybe was during the drunken times of THE COVIDS.
