mfsop
Yeah, I've always liked them but never bought that album, even though most flea markets have it for cheap. ELP were heavily criticised by some music critics, one citing a joke, "how do you spell pretentious? E-L-P."[33]Robert Christgau said of the band "these guys are as stupid as their most pretentious fans".[34] Christgau called ELP the "world's most overweening 'progressive' group".[34] John Kelman of All About Jazz noted that an "overbearing sense of self-importance turned ELP from one of the 1970s' most exciting new groups into the definition of masturbatory excess and self-aggrandizement in only a few short years."[35] Kelman also stated that "in their fall from grace, [ELP] represented everything wrong with progressive rock."[36] DJ John Peel went so far as to describe the band as a "...waste of talent and electricity..."[37]
doppelkorn
Bought my first record in about a year last week. I'm sure Rockwell hates Frank Zappa too

DJ Rock Well
Is that the one with "Dirty Love" on it? If so, I once listened to both sides of it in a row.
doppelkorn
Yeah, there's ONLY top tunes on there.
Guest petesasqwax
Things like "Peaches en regalia" are fucking incredible but Zappa often puts me off with his bizarre pairing of genius musical arrangements and 13yr old schoolboy lyrics
doppelkorn
Pete check out One Size Fits All. That might be more up your street. The review there is from the massively popular recommend an album thread. Mind you that was a couple of years ago. Maybe some of the new blood on here (who actually listen to music) can resurrect it? Guest petesasqwax
Hot Rats was probably my favourite, though I'm never likely to be a big Zappa fan. One of my best mates has everything he's ever done and I've probably heard all of it over the years. The Joe's Garage type stuff tends to ball me off most.On a side note:http://sport.uk.msn.com/greatest-nicknames-in-sport?page=

DJ Rock Well
I bought one of those blue tapes the Sunday before last and when I got home it was missing from my bag. Gutted.
Steve
My tape came with a bit of paper in it saying "Free download! Email", followed by his email address, but I Googled the mix name earlier to see if there was any artwork for it and it's available as a download here: - http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Dj_Manipulate/
