alkatrazz
naw is just a whole bunch of these rappers bite pacs and biggies and lyrics, cuz eventhough I dont like gangsta rap other than the old stuff that was somewhat good, pac and biggie mostly wrote there own stuff. I dont know too much about Jay-Z which is weird cuz he was really good when he was first coming up and then all of a sudden just sold out and started writting shit lyrics. 2ndhand
2pac's music wasnt that great IMO. he made the odd good track. if hadnt died when he did and become a legend, he'd probably be starring in kid's movies with hulk hogan. and ice cube . . . $a!n+
I like gangsta rap every now and again. Its in my blood down here in Lousiana I guess. I like 2pac Biggie and Jay-z. 90 percent of rap is quotes. I like to here quotes sometimes. Its kinda like using a sample thats really recognisable on purpose. Brings you back to the first time you heard it. I dont think biggie was a genius, I dont think Jay-z is a genius. But I do think 2pac was. Not like "oh he is the best thug rapper ever" but the amount of creative energy, ambition, and smarts this guy had was crazy. He would do like 10 tracks a day. Of course they werent all hits. I wish I could do 10 tracks a month! But beyond that, he uses alliteration, assonance, metaphors, simlies, and all thoses other dry terms we use to explain poetry. Just look how he puts words together. Its art. Most rap isnt.
Flare Bear
i agree with gabriel when he said that most of rap is quotes but when its just general shit like "bitch wanna ride with me" you dont know he is doing an homage to some rap song in 94 because the quote was gay to begin with. i especially started to not like 2pac when he basically admitted that he makes his music to bitch about how bad the ghetto is in hopes that "someone will clean it up". wow, great contribution to society. rather than try to do something he just whined hoping that someone else would and made a couple bucks off it Edited February 12, 2005 by Flare Bear
Rick Flarez
It's interesting because Jay-Z allegedly never writes down any of his rhymes, he just remembers them, so how much is reference or homage and how much is a line from someone elses song popping into his head and him thinking he's made it up. I don't think he's shit because of this, but I do think he's a bit shit. He was pretty amazing at one stage though.

Guest $mooth
He's a good rapper, he can rap. But if he can't make up his own lyrics then he is wack.I'm not a fan.
Blak Randy
haha, indeed, Alan from sunderland that has a slight sweating problem... Oi ya cunt. Less off the Sunderland disses you southern shandy drinking poof . Really I thik Jay Z is a classic example of someone who can rap well but sometimes chooses not too for commercial success. When he is saying other peoples rhymes he is just quoting them obviously. He isn't trying to say they are his own lyrics. Biggie was another good MC who somtimes chose to dumb it down but when he came hard he fucking came hard. Pac is a waste of space IMO. Chee
Someone has put together all of JAy-Z's bites into an audio file. The original gets played first, then you hear Jay-Z's version. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/infofoyamusic.htm
dextrous
Disscuss tells it exactly how it is. I think Jay-Zs tight but he's done an awful lot of piss poor shit. Does that mean he a shit MC? No, it means he has shit judgement and/or low morals when it comes to selling out. As for the biting, like has been said it's quotes, homages. Two lines out of a whole verse aint biting. Do you think Jay-Z's stupid enough to think that some hardcore hip-hop heads aint gonna notice when he starts throwing other peoples lines about? True about him never writing anything down. That's pretty amazing when you think about it. Anyway this is just gonna turn into a Jay-Z: Wank or superstar? thread and I'm only just recovering from the one Reezy was posting on Skratch alienz. Oh yeah - 2pac is an utter waste of space. I like some gangsta rap, but 2Pac was a genius? Please!! A couple of albums I still like are Ice Cube's first solo record Amerikkka's Most Wanted, and NWA's first. Some other stuff I would kinda class as gangsta rap is Smif-N-Wessun's album, Dah Shinin. That's a good album if you like weeded thug rap. Jahli
90 percent of rap is quotes. thats just ignorant, biting is BITING, and Jay-z, jova, or whatever he wants to call his lame ass now is and always has been BITING. And those quotes are proof, you don't staright jack someone elses COMPLETE LINES to pay respect, you FLIP THAT SHIT, and no, he didn't flip em,he just REGURGITADED them hoping noone would notice or just out of plain stupidity that he ddidn't relise his "freestyles" are other peoples scripts. either way is WACK. Dude is a legend because his art was and always will be not because of when he died. His expression, and the emotion you could feel in his flows is raw. Hes even a good actor, multi talented. I personally have always hated GAY-Z if you also hate him, check out the nas track ETHER (L click) (jay diss) its ill NAS shits on him in every way. Another tight ass NAS song in "rewind" (sorry off topic) Did you make that list yourself or did you post it from somewhere else sigma? If somewhere else, please provide us with the link This shit needs to be posted on the JAYZ dickriding forum w/ever it is.
