Sigma - 79 (new mix!)

He thought I might have been you, so I told him that you were a friend of mine that was helping me to promote my mix. He said he recognised your name from somewhere, so I said that maybe he'd seen your mixes posted up on the web and I linked him to your site.

Cheers mate, hope Matt, or DJ Format as I know him, checks out my shizzle!

Anyways, listened to this on the drive home today:

Your transitions are fucking MONEY. They really move nicely and are busy but never too busy, always very considered, always keep the funk, and some real nice/clever use of vocal lines.

What delay/echo plugin do you use? I can never get my echo business sounding nice.

The only thing I'd say about it is that its a pretty long mix and at times feels it, because the beat and style is so similar in most of the tunes, but I appreciate that is down to the tunes, and therefore is just a part of the concept. Really nicely done though mate, you've made me think I need to step my game up!

Now pull your finger out yer arse and get the UBB mix done!!! :)

Thanks a lot for the feedback mate! Regarding the beats/style, I agree. I think I made it worse in that segment where I put 4 songs with the exact same beat back to back, which didn't really work out how I intended. The first transition is alright, but then it drags through the next 3 tracks.

The echo effect I used is just the standard echo effect that's built into Audition. That and quickverb are pretty much the only effects I used in this mix. I perhaps used echo a bit too much, but it helped to smooth over transitions where the incoming track was faster than the outgoing one, which I had to do quite a few times, plus I like the way it sounds, haha.

I'll finish that UBB mix one day!

@Joe - What do you mean by "HTML code"? The links you mean?

No mate, the amount you use the echo is fine to me, I'm a fan of it myself, I just don't seem to pull it off very well, maybe a touch of reverb will help though...echos are good for when there's a slight tempo change. Another thing i like which is something I've noticed on Muro mixes is a reversed crash cymbal with a normal crash straight after, with the normal crash on the first beat of the new tune. Does that make sense or should i post something to explain?

No mate I meant the code for it. I thought you might be able to get it. I just wanted to post it to my blog but i'm not sure how to do it without hosting it myself. If you have it on a hosting site does it not give you the option of the HTML code for blogs and websites and shit?

Can you send me the HTML code for the cover image I think it would look better with that accompanying it.

do you think Matt would prefer it that way?

:(( :(( :(( :(( YES!

The pics are hosted on my personal webspace. You can use HTML to embed them into a blog though. What blogging platform do you use? Don't most of them allow you to upload pics, or just paste in links?

If you've gotta manually type in HTML, then the basic code is this: -

Obviously, replacing the bold text with the link.

Cheers, Joe!

It's odd that the link isn't clickable by default. SoundCloud is better, cos people can either stream or download, so I believe the code you want is this: -

<a href="http://soundcloud.com/deejaysigma/79-a-mix-of-hip-hop-tracks">.:. Stream or download Sigma's mix on SoundCloud .:.</a>
