Max
prisms, chee, not clovers
Chee
that's funny. With the clicks between tears, then would only serve to accent the tear movements, and not to cut them with a flare. I think a prism has got to be the second one. When I do reverse tears (1 forward, 2 back), I always throw a click in between the tears, but only to make them sound cleaner. If I were cutting the tears themselves then i would flare on the tears instead of in between them.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly! This reminds me of the delayed flare descriptions, where people place the clicks at the end of the record movement. It almost makes the clicks redundant, when you place them at the end of the record movement, or right on the pause of the tear.
chile
in the second diagram, you would be able to hear the reverse and forward in a different pitch from the the rest of the pattern because of the quicker pull back to the start, this change in pitch does happen in the video while hes doing the combo
Steve
You're wrong. Watch the video again. I don't care about your diagrams because they are not accurate representations (see chirp, chirp/flare on your site for examples). Mine was. **EDIT** Watch the part from 38-42 seconds and look at the pink sticker on the record. If that doesn't make it obvious I don't know what will. la ressistance
damn, i was worried this would happen,it's gone all asis !can i just say that whytebread is a cunt !i really don't get diagrams, that's why i was hoping for some files,so that i could hear the sound and apart from that vid the only thing i've got is when rucker does them on the knitting factory freestyle. I always thought you put the clicks in between the stops of the tear hence you get a sharp click and a not so sharp stop-giving that watery sound. now i feel queazy from thinking too much. maybe if people posted clips of what they think are prisms ,then we could all come to an agreement on what sounds right. Then deconstruct them. Chee
"Prisms = 2 click orbits over clover tears." CLOVER TEARS!!! You need the Clover Tear as the record movement.
Steve
QBert posted on his forum something vague like "it's 1f 2b, 2f 1b with 2-clicks on top". I remember people talking about it ages ago cos they didn't know where to put the clicks (and still don't ). It's not clovers.

Chee
OK, I jsut watched my Tableturns DVD again, and the scratch Qbert does kinda sound like what's been posted (2F-1B-1F-2B malarky). And I think what I thought were prisms actually are pyramids. Makes sense really - 8 sounds, 8 lines to draw a pyramid.
$a!n+
well the record hand movement is the same in all descriptions.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>None of the diagrams describe the record movement the guy is doing in the video.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> yes they do, roughly<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Steves not to good with the notation thing. Guest Vekked
on the video he does 8 clicks total as opposed to 12 as i believe there is supposed to be... he did one clicks on the two forward for a total of 2 clicks forward, then 2 one clicks on the final two back for a total of 2 clicks back... I believe qbert's pattern is 2 clicks on each forward for 4 clicks forward, and 4 on the final 2 back tears... gabe posted audio on asis a while ago I think that sounded pretty accurate, though I've never heard ones like qbert... I think I know how to do them, except my 2 clicks aren't fast enough to make them sound right yet, lol, gimme a month or so maybe... pz!
