Wax On
So i've had the MPC 5 days now, just still getting to grips with it. This is the first beat i've reall done any amount of work on, it's still rough though and needs a load doing to it. http://www.humyo.com/F/5566633-343912453
Wax On
Sorry mate, its some club night thing...thats why I tend to try and roll as DJ Wax On rather than Wax On, to avoid confusion. I reckon i was here first. Shame though, I bet those fry ups are GOOD.

Wax On
lol cheers pete! Smooth fm ftw!!! just wait for my smooth fm tribute mixtape, its gonna be HOT real nice mate which mpc did you get in the end? thanks mate I got a 1000 maxed out with JJOS 1 & 2. i've got loads of shit to learn i reckon, but i'm getting my head around it reasonably. Its nice, but i'd like a tilting screen and the extra outs that the 2500 give you
Giraffe Dung
you know, the outs were one of the reasons i went with the 2500 in the first place, but when i got it i rarely found myself tracking out more than 6 anyway. i'm jealous, i miss having an mpc. Wax On
yeah its been nice just getting samples on it and sitting in the living room or in bed working on beats. I gues you're right. I'm just gonna have to work out the best method of engineering my stuff...
texas pete
how do they actually work? record some sounds directly onto it and then just arrange them how you want?
Wax On
Thats basically it. it's a sampler/sequencer. you create programs, which consist of sounds assigned to pads. Then you create/record sequences, then arrange the sequences.
texas pete
sounds easy enough.... having said that... I cant manage it on ableton so i dont know how a pad would make it better still i bet they are good fun though!
Giraffe Dung
the main thing is the workflow. (until maschine, which i am ever so excited about) there has never been a piece of software that 'thinks' like an mpc or alternative. the speed at which you sample and then work with the sample is unrivalled on an mpc/mpcalike (the mv8800 has an even more logical workflow imo) due to the way that on a pc there are sequencers, recorders, and sample players, but on a sampling workstation it's all beautifully merged. ableton seems to be working towards this too actually, after seeing some of the features touted for live 8. i'm betting v10 will be a complete all in one setup. Wax On
lol cheers guys yeah i've got the basics, just need to look into the additional stuff you can do with JJ which i don't know about...also need to look into linking it up with cubase and whatnot
Blak Randy
Nice Sample, Nice chops. Nice Hats and Kick drum but one thing for me Wizax. I really don't like that Snare on this track. I don't like it to the point that it spoils the rest of it for me. That's just my personal opinion though homeslice.
Blak Randy
ACtually on second listen maybe just turn down the snare a little and add a lil reverb or something to it.
Wax On
yeah i know what you mean mate, i'm gonna have to check some more options. Not sure about the triangle either. I might stick a drum loop instead of the sequenced hits. thanks for the pointers
chuckjl
nice work Wax, always love a track with smooth horns. Great style. I'm with Diss on the snare, I find them a bit loud.
