On the RC-20XL, input can be stereo or mono, but whatever you're looping (output) will come out as mono. Also, for the RC-20XL to sample/ loop properly - you're going to have to use 1/4 Y-cables (from the looper to the 56) so you can engage Flex FX. If you don't do it through the effects section of your mixer, the levels will probably be too soft... You could also try connecting your looper to the 'Aux out' on your 56 - it's been a while, so I couldn't tell you what happened when I ran something through it. Link - http://scratchlive.net/forum

I actually had a go on a couple of 08's a few weeks back. The faders are smooth, and out of the three 08's I toyed with - the faders all felt different. Some were tighter than the others. The knobs were nice as well, they moved easily - and had a nice grip to it. The metal little kubby (EQ/ Iso) switches are surprisingly snappy. They feel more like plastic, and have little resistance, but no vertical/ lateral movement at all. I enjoy that feeling! Those were all unpowered mind you (GC is kinda ghey, asked for help, got none) - I wouldn't hesitate to purchase an 08 though if I needed a mixer.

Rane mixers are terrible. Build quality is crap, sound quality - the same, and the faders are dodgy at best. </sarcasm> For reals - they are coo. There are many alternatives to using a Empath/ TTM 56/ 57SL today - you should try before you buy!

Using Bome's MIDI translator - isn't it possible to record a set of key sequences/ commands which would save the user time? Instead of having to tap the BPM button 100 times - record the key sequences/ commands or what have you.

Well, if you have a TF, couldn't you use use Bome's Midi Translator and record the click sequence? I'm just speculating here...

Apparently you can also tap the BPM tapper once and hold the space bar down to unlock it. From what I've read, this feature will be properly implemented in version 1.8. I don't own Serato (yet!) so I haven't tested this, but I'm assured that it works. Nifty.

I'm beginning to question my PDX. Mine makes noises at night. Sounds like the innards are expanding or some shit - like wood. As for the TT500 - the platter feels good. It's solid, I like that. The buttons and such feel flimsy - then again, those decks must have been touched by many...
