  1. Easy guys, Long time no see... figured I'd ask here as I know a few people had a crazy list of mixtapes a few years back... Has anyone got a mp3 of DJ Noize's "Real Hip Hop My Man" at all please? Got rid of my tape a few years ago and forgot to record it like it! No worries if not.
  2. Please elaborate. I love me some DJ gossip. I'm good thanks man, still cutting every now and then, but more on the club stuff now... yourself?
  3. Been ages since I've peeped the site... thought I'd stop by and say hello. Has anything changed? Have I missed anything in the battle / scratch / tablist scene?
  4. Thanks guys. Bubba - it's some arty farty loft space in Hackney. There were lots of freaky things floating about.
  5. Easy, long time no speak... I got asked to do a routine for Reloop… I rarely cut these days, but there's some scratching in there. Hope you like it. The TRC tune is out now on my label. The Mattwizard one is coming soon. Enjoy.
  6. My thoughts: Battling is still a good way to stay on top of your game, get stage experience, and to an extent, use a springboard into other areas of DJ-ing and music. As much as I love watching videos of people shred on YouTube (Ritchie, Kurteek, Vekked, Yoshi, etc), and appreciate the time and effort gone into making routines, I don't really cut as much as I used to these days...Fell out of love with spending hours perfecting that stuff, although I still loosely follow the battles, and give props to DMC for keeping the artform alive. My main focus is playing good shows and improving on my production skills....that's what I've always enjoyed the most.
  7. http://soundcloud.com/djcable/kanyecableremix One of the very few tracks that I like off the album... decided to make it more club/rave friendly. Hope you dig it.
  8. Cheers Loopsta! I think having a mentor would in theory give them an understanding of self value tbh.... well, hopefully anyway! Fair point, although from memory a lot of those cats were producers who had a catalogue of tunes & remixes (whether they were good or bad is open to debate) and/or a radio show on a large station... not just your average 'DJ Dave with a bag of tunes from Juno'. I think if you're doing this full time, then you can see the frustration (excuse the pun) of the author. If you're merely a hobbyist or someone doing this for fun, then you probably won't. DJ-ing isn't the only area affected though. I'm pretty sure photographers get it just as bad.
  9. Good argument. My two cents: If I have nothing on at the weekend, and someone I know offers me a local gig at a slightly reduced rate then I'd take it, based on the fact that it's extra income. I wouldn't make a habit of doing it though... local scenes are small however, so if one club/promoter does it, then everyone else will inevitably try it on but if you're going out of town and travelling to a gig where you're gonna get paid fuck all...it's just not economical I think the best ways for someone to get on these days is to either: a) put a night on themselves and build a rep b) find a dj "mentor" and learn the ropes. If you're respectful and don't snake the dj, you will eventually thrown a few gigs that he/she can't do. c) build a rep with mixtapes/podcasts/working with brands d) produce music e) work with an artist as their tour dj the lack of quality control from nightclubs and promoters these days though is somewhat frightening.
  10. I've still got that mixtape link yo! Gonna start the column soon Big up!
  11. Easy dudes, Trying to find that "How That Sound" lyric that Babu cuts up on Dilated's "Clockwork". Pretty sure I have it in my record collection but my mind has gone blank. If anyone could help, that'd be most awesome. Big up. P.S. Anyone around for a cut over the next few weeks? Been doing the same shit since '08 and could do with some inspiration!
