  1. Thanks for replying wax inspector. I may hit you up when I get the parts.
  2. Thanks for the info man. Although I wouldn't really know how to wire it. But like I say the open format kit appears to be just the button no relay so how would it work? https://openformat.la/guides/arcade-button-mod-numark-pt-01/ This is the link to their fitting instructions. Just two wires that's it.??
  3. I'm looking at fitting a start/stop button to my portables and read the posts about getting a latching type switch but I have seen the guys at open format LA use an arcade type button in their kits. I thought arcade buttons were only momentary? Or are they a latching type button with an arcade button type head on? Anyway I don't fancy paying the huge shipping from the states for some small electronic parts so wanted to source parts here in the U.K. Just need to know what my options are if anyone can help.
  4. Watched all six episodes this weekend and really enjoyed it even if it has got Jaden Smith in it! Hip hop history 101 it ain't by any stretch but an entertaining story none the less. I saw a lot of bitching online about the show from hip hop heads for it not showing history correctly and my thoughts echo dirks in that if your watching tv shows as history lessons your seriously missing the point. There was some moaning about the record labels not matching the songs playing in certain scenes but pretty sure the non DJ people watching didn't notice and couldn't care less. Seeing as the actor probably can't beat juggle the music would have been added in post production anyway and perhaps couldn't gain permission to play the records used to film the scene. The only part that annoyed me was the use of bad cgi to fake the graffiti writing.
  5. Wow that is awful! I'm all for moving away from using laptops for djing but that is not the way to go IMO That touchscreen is taking up valuable pot space. How are you going to adjust the eq? On a touch screen? What about filter knobs? Pretty much standard on modern mixers. Looks far too small and fiddly to be accurate. Ideally I would like to see something with the controls of say a DJM S9 or Rane 62 for track browsing, loading, effects etc. but be able to play files from flash drives plugged into the mixer so would have some kind of processor inside the mixer. And also have visible waveforms and library browser on a remote screen. I could probably do without the waveforms TBH. I wouldn't mind having to do track prep on a laptop at home ala rekordbox and just turn up and play. If someone is going to develop a computer solely for DJing then I would rather stick with the laptop style but rather than a qwerty keyboard why not something like a DDJ SP1 underneath for all the DJ related controls. And maybe use a touchscreen for library browsing but not controlling the mixer. Include an audio interface and job done.
  6. I would think just having Redbull thre3style in the video title helps get views though. Instant audience.
  7. Yeah but juggling at 45rpm is hard though.
  8. More importantly something needs to be done to stop all the awful re-sung/re-played/covered songs that are released. And on a side note where does a copyright holder stand on the thousands of bands getting payed to play cover versions of their tracks at gigs daily around the world?
  9. That's an interesting read. Anyone know if 'De-minimus' is applied in UK law?
  10. Get a Rode SC4. Basically a TRS to TRRS adapter it's only Mono but cheaper than other options but works well. I use it on the booth out on my 56 turned right down but you may need an attenuator if using on an output without volume control. There's always the iRig range of adapters for guitars but I've not tried myself
  11. Traktor. They were mk1 timecode and pretty useless anyway because I stood them up behind my laptop while playing normal records and the heat melted a huge warp in them both on the outside edge.
  12. I used an old scrap 45 on top as a guide and used a hot knife to cut the circle. Came out pretty good actually.
  13. I get the buzzing on mine too. It gets worse when you start the platter and even worse on battery power. Guess I'm opening it up to check mine too.
  14. Me cutting up some breaks on two portable turntables using two Raiden faders as a crossfader for fun http://www.pikore.com/m/1216423897020279677_2056728113
  15. Had an idea and it worked. 2 X raiden fader = a rubbish cross fader and 2 x portable turntable Here's the video http://www.pikore.com/m/1216423897020279677_2056728113 heres a pic http://imgur.com/xI5J7g8 but Check out my Instagram account @ethanoldj for a video It's a bit awkward. need to make something to hold the two faders together if possible. just for fun.
  16. Jeez that new website kinda sucks. Took me at least 4 clicks and a lot of scrolling just to actually see any of the competition videos.
  17. Deadly needles I think. ? I have the cd at home somewhere
  18. didn't he have it between two pieces of glass? I don't have access to any easily and may find other uses for the hot knife. Also didn't he use scissors? I know I couldn't even cut a decent circle out of paper with scissors but thought I could trace round a scrap 45 with the knife. I've seen people cutting some pretty intricate designs in vinyl with one so a basic circle should be child's play but I'm still worried about warping at the edges but we shall see.
  19. I've got one on order too. And a hot knife for cutting down a timecode record!
  20. That was fuckin awesome mate best routine yet. It seemed like there was more going on in this one? and it kept changing while maintaining flow. Nice
