Hehe. Interesting effect, DJStickey, how was it done? Did you use Photoshop's threshold and cut-out filter? I have the original picture somewhere which is high quality. The purple one is a bit poo.

Yo, some one please roughly explain what effect/settings/etc are use to create these effects? I'm a complete photoshop novice.

im not a photoshop expert..

 

but just random experimenting (and collaborating ideas with my girl) helps.

 

basically with that headshell tower in the middle of the city thing i did:

 

1. took a photo

2. image>adjustments>brightness/contrast

2. filter>artistic>cutout

4. changed the color settings (hue, saturation, brightness) image>adjustments>color balance

5. added the needle behind and did similar stuff to it

6. added the text

7. practice cutting

I desaturated a few times throughout the process to get it to a usable black and white. I used some of the liquify effects to soften the graininess of the skin and hair before using the cutout filter.
