Max
I don't know what it is about those beats, but as soon as i started cutting over them, I all of a sudden became really good at scratching. Seriously. My 2-click flares all started sounding good, i suddenly started doing slowed clover tears somehow, my record and fader hand timing was a ton better, and i was throwing in new combos i had never heard before. Damn. You must be my muse or something. :EDIT: And i'll post some files soon so you can hear how much better i've gotten.

Max
you can clover tear anything you can tear. So basically you can clover tear anything. It's easiest i think to do it over a consistent sound because you can guage better how sharp the tears are, something like a straight up ahhh or a crash sound maybe. Fresh can be good too. Steve
Just do a baby scratch forwards then a baby scratch backwards. Same thing.
