Wax On
Yo my p&g fader in my vestax seems to stick, and looks to be when it gets warm, so i'm assuming it needs lubing...anyone know what sort of lube to use? Cheers
x2k
my technique has always been use Cailube on the tracks and a thing oil (I use hair clipper oil) on the rail...you only need very very tiny amounts. Some people & places recommend putting the Cailube on the rails too but I find the smoothness is only short lived and it's a bit daft since it's designed for electrical contacts. So use a nice thin oil the the rails for smoothness and not sticking (hair clipper oil, gun oil, sewing machine oil, etc) but don't get any on the contacts. Then use something like Cailube on the tracks for a long life, better contact and a touch more slickness.

x2k
I always used sewing machine oil and it worked fine too. Sadly it's not available to most though since real men don't own fucking sewing machines!

Wax On
i can't believe you've put the wrong name in that quote, you've SO gone down in my estimation... i heard a rumour that Adam's hair contains a special magic formula given to him by turkish emo druids... Liam
Before you lubricate, clean all areas you want to lube with a mild alcohol like isopropyl. Pointless applying oil to layers of dust and dirt. It will strip the old lube off, though, so don't clean until you're ready to re-lube it.
