Nope. Don't buy it! What is it, a Prescott core P4? I wouldn't touch it, personally. Grahics card is weak, there's no mention of the PSU it uses, etc etc.

You could build a better PC yourself, you're paying for the name Sony. If you wanna buy it though, cool, spend your money how you wanna.

it's not for games (i got ps2 for that) it'll' be the base for my music stuff i'd love to build my own but can't afford it (an i can't save for shit) i get this for 600 quid over 6 months with fuck all interest ;)

If it's for music, then i'd give it a miss. I've had loads of customers have problems with external soundcards and software on sony vaios. Even though they are marketed as multimedia computers they seem to be really flaky in terms of music making in my experience.

nice spec for £600 though.

I could build better for that money. It doesn't cost a lot, especially if you order certain parts from the USA where everything is loads cheaper. As I said, I wouldn't touch it. Fuck pre-bought computers, they're usually shit.

PS2 and XBox are "OK" for games, but they won't run the only games that are worth playing right now and they won't keep upwith a PC and a good GFX card.

i defer to your knowledge on this one, i don't really keep up to date with component prices and system prices. Again, if you're buying a comp for music i'd really steer clear of Vaios.

word. You get all the cutting edge PC games 2-3 years later and then you get to run them in TV screen resolution. and then you you have to split that up if you want to play multiplayer. and if you play multiplayer you can see everyone else's screen ! :'(

whats £ 849.00  in american dollars?

He can get it for £600 man - that's $1098. Computer components are more expensive here though.

This reminds me - Dee you asked me to get you some memory months ago and I forgot. I'm sorry mate! Next time you need a favour from me keep reminding me cos I'm a dopey twat.

No worries Steve, I got some anyway. The stuff I wanted from america was equivalent of £180 (1 GB OCZ 3700EB) but almost £300 in the UK. I ended up buying the new Crucial Ballistix PC3200 which worked out pretty cheap for such good memory @ only £88 for a 512 MB stick / £176 per GB.

I have a VAIO latop thats takin care of me for bout 2 or 3 years now. I like it. Yeah sometimes paying for sony is paying for a brand name (car stereos) but in certain circumstances they make reliable consistant products (ex. minidisk players, headphones, video cams.) I like sony. But then again I like stanton!

1. Sony do not manufacture ANYTHING any more. It is all sub-contracted.

2. I've had three Sony Minidisc players cop out on me

3. Sony headphones break off at the jack (and the older ones at the headband) due to poor design

Sony video cams are untouchable though.

I have a lot of Sony gear, all of it has been flawless. 2 MD recorders (JB520 and JB-940), AV amp STR-DB940, DVD writer DRU-512AK, Sony headphones, multi-component remote AV-2000, PS1, PS2, etc... none of it has every gone wrong. So yeah, I disagree.

I like Sony my MD is fine the PS2 is cool and i've got a walkman i've had for about 8 years that's good also the only time any sony headphones have broke is when i stood on them.

that pc is now 700 quid (tossers!!!) so i'm building one with part from ebuyer (staff discount!)

I wasn't saying Sony gear is BAD, just that it isn't as reliable a brand as it used to be.

Sony CD seperates do kick ass, agreed, the high end ones are built very solid too. Still, I'd rather sink the money on something like a Linn unit or whatever.

The PS2 was always a poorly designed piece of shit from day one and three PS1's crapped out on me

Anyway, my point wasn't that Sony gear is bad, but most of it does pale in comparison to the alternatives

I bought a wicked Sony ATRAC cd player so I could listen to mp3 CD's on holiday and I have to say it is one of the best £50 I have ever sunk on anything. It feels pretty cheap, but works a treat. With a few CD's, who needs an iPod????
