  1. What about the supremacy battle?
  2. The Scratchbox is 1000 USD in the shops. The first units have been shipped to the US and Canada. Check your local guitar center.
  3. I definitely am sticking with the Rodec Scratchbox, not for the obvious reason but it's such a good piece of kit that hasn't let me down. I've heard some horror stories about the 08-Pro from a lot of people in my immediate area: -Adapters burning out -sound quality issues -bleeping sounds when the fader cuts in and out (firmware) -heat issues -the unit not powering up at all. The Scratchbox doesn't have any of these issues mentioned above and that is to be expected for a product that is in the same price range of the Vestax 08-Pro. On top of that all faders have full curve control that can't be touched by any other brand( just ask any owner, they will confirm!!) I can't believe people would invest in a piece of equipment that has been proven to be faulty the world over. I want to ask a simple question. Although the 08-Pro has a few more fancy features over the Scratchbox and has a nice shiny layer on the faceplate, why would anyone buy a mixer with so many flaws ? Brand loyalty? The Scratchbox beats the 08-Pro in the sound department, (all) fader curve adjustment, solid build and plug and play faders such as PnG, Pro X Fade, PCV, infinium, TKD Profade. Let's face it, the Scratchbox would even beat the 08-Pro in all of the essential features even if the 08-Pro was flawless. It's going to blow up in the States! Be on the look-out, the list of users is growing.
  4. I hope you will enjoy the Scratchbox Oliver. I know still I do. My Rane TTM-56 has been locked away in my flightcase for over a year now.

Rodec, a Belgian company with history dating back to 1954, is credited with developing some of the first ever DJ mixers, starting around 1970. In addition, Rodec also created amplifiers, speakers, and other equipment geared towards live sound reproduction with one common thread – their unrelenting approach to offering the absolute finest sound quality and build quality possible. 9. There still is some justice around, great to hear this.
  10. What about a SMC Firmware update? I did it with my Macbook Pro and everything went smooth ever since.
  11. The tourist trap. Amsterdam is overrated, anyway have a good trip.
  12. I love Berlin! Prenzlauer berg area is cool. Architecture in the eastern part rocks. People are great, great and cheap eating spots, great public transportation. Damn, I wish I was going. Many record shops, check out Hip Hop Vinyl www.hhv.com
  13. I'm too technical. I'm going to change my style completely during the next few months, I found some great people to practice with. Practicing with different people for days on end helps a lot on the tech and funk side of things.
  14. forget it, sorry, no can do. pro x fade all the way!
  15. Pc's are mac's mac's are PC's ...get it?
  16. Hahaha those were the days!!! I remember back in '93 every self respecting scratch DJ had one of these. )
  17. I couldn't have said it better, pointless debate indeed. I'm headed back to the lab.
  18. Two Tokio Ko-on Profaders as upfaders and an infinium crossfader. You can upgrade to all infiniums at a later date if you decide to, but the Ko-on's are really sweet too, ask Giz and Deft.
  19. Read the post above. Good things are happening. No worries mate. I'm reffering to the standard battle/scratch mixer lay-out. You're on point on some things you summed up above and totally off base on other raised points. Allen & Heath is an excellent mixer company, but the faders in the Xone-02 really suck and the curve adjustment for the faders is just average ... It doesn't have 36dB headroom as the other mixers in the Xone series have and the there is no 3rd channel which can be assigned and routed to the other input channels. Granted on paper a lot of mixers sound great, but the Scratchbox was designed to beat all of the other mixers where it counts, in use!! ...on stage, in studios in bedrooms. All I can say is this, everyone who touched the scratchbox at trade shows, battles ...etc was stunned, even the most critical of the critical.. Rodec doesn't put selling huge quantities first like for instance Pioneer, they focus on delivering quality. If you're really concerned about sales Liam I can let you in on this much, Rodec and the scratchbox are doing mighty well! *Also this. Comparing the Rodec Scratchbox to the Ecler HAK 360 is a sin! We took it apart in the lab and ran tests and we were shocked how lacking this mixer is. Like you said in the previous post "cheaper alternative" ...indeed it is in every aspect.
  20. Time will tell. All I can do is re-iterate the thoughts of others and say that the price tag is prohibitive for most. 2tall says he can't afford a laptop: I'm assuming then that Rodec have furnished him with a Scratchbox gratis? I put it to him, then, that he would think twice about the purchase were it his cash on the table. Mind you, if you're an artist then ignoring the price tag is your perogative -in fact, beaing able to ignore price tags should free you up to make the right decisions. I honestly don't think at the current price tag the mixer will sell well against the proven, established, cheaper alternatives. Just look at the HAK 360 -it was touted as a match for the proven alternative, the 56, but sold very badly until it tumbled in price, then things took off. I'm guess-timating that the price tag -and possibly a price cut, will be the make or break factor. All I can say is things are going quite well for the Scratchbox. There are major developments happening. It's already a success
