  1. Cool thanks, so Sony does gives a damn about its customers.
  2. I just bought a pair of Sony MDRV700 headphones, but everyone I've spoken to talks about their vulnerability to breaking. I heard about some kind of mod with zip ties and crazy glue (huh?)... Any explanation or suggestions on making these headphones last a while?
  3. Has anybody used the digital output on the STR8-80 turntable? How do you go about using the digital output into a computer?
  4. I recently took in a floor model SA-3 and I'm already planning on returning it. Firstly channel 2 was cutting out, so I opened it up and found that it was just a loose ribbon cable connection. Second, the first channel upfader started crackling, so I air blasted it and lubed it. Then as I started mixing. I noticed that the fade curve on the upfaders were terrible and the volume output was considerably low. Although I will say that the quality of the sound was way better than my Vestax. Its one good looking mixer, but the internals were so cheap, the faders looked like they were built in a middle school electronics class, connections were very sensitive and were hot glue gunned for extra "reliability" Before trying this mixer out, I already had a bad experience with a factory defect found on the mixer that came with the old Stanton Platinum Pak 2 (it was an SK something). I love my STR8-80s, but I have no confidence with Stanton mixers. Hmmm next!
  5. What is the replacement crossfader for the Stanton SA-3 mixer? I'd like to get a P+G fader, but which one and where? I checked out Stanton's website and they don't even mention there being a P+G crossfader replacement for the SA-3 (http://www.stantondj.com/v2/prod_crossfaders_schart.asp). Second, is it a pretty straightforward procedure to replace the crossfader, plug out the old one and plug in the new one? Also, can you use fader lube on the new fader once it becomes stiff? I'm somewhat familiar with how that all works, considering I also have an 06-Pro with a VCA crossfader that I keep in tip-top shape.
  6. Seeing that I need a hamster switch on the crossfader, the NUO2 won't work. I'll be on the lookout for a HAK 310 or the UMX-5 or 7.
  7. I currently own an 06-Pro, but as I have been getting more into mixing I have found that I need at least a 3-band EQ. Not having the adjustable mids is killin me. Which mixer is comparable to the 06-Pro just with a 3-band EQ? I love the crossfader, and the simplicity and the relative inexpensive cost of the 06 so I'm looking for something around the same level.
  8. Is there a curve adjustment on the Pioneer DJM-500? Its the weirdest thing because both the DJM-400 and the 600 have adjustable curves for the crossfader, but I didn't see one on the 500.
  9. I just went to the audiologist yesterday and had a hearing test done, my Dr. sent me to get one to determine whether my tinnitus (ringing in my ears which I've had since I was a kid) was due to hearing loss. It turns out my hearing is just fine and that I have not suffered any significant hearing loss, thank God. I won't get into the next steps in my diagnosis, since this post is not about that... Through this experience I've realized that I should not risk my hearing until it becomes to late. Considering that I DJ and I goto clubs frequently I want to purchase some custom earplugs that will reduce the overall sound without muffeling the frequencies. Does anybody have any recommendations?
  10. AnalogX.com has a prog called Tap Tempo for PC which tells you the number of BPMs (beats per minute) of a song by simply hiting the spacebar each time it "hits". Is there anything for Mac like this?
  11. Good stuff, I got their EP "With It"
  12. How about a stereo power amp, this looks like a great alternative? Do any DJs use these? Since I'm not concerned with having an amp with anything more than 2 channels on it, and I don't care about hooking up a mic. Wouldn't this be the best economical solution to simply play out with? I'm planning on getting this Nady Stereo Power Amp. 200 watts RMS per channel at 8 ohms for only $179.99. All I need is some matching speakers.
  13. They suck sooo bad, I shouldn't even know their names, but sadly thats how it is over here. These guys are the epitome of shitty music.
  14. I BPM every record I get, although I don't mark it on the record itself. I have several Excel files just with BPMs on there, it helps when you're creating a set. Z-Trip puts BPM labels on his records, its pretty tedious work though, considering how each track within a record varies in BPMs anyhow.
