  1. 3 days of sleep deprivation and a couple of jars of crab paste usually works for me. Seriously, what are you on about mate?
  2. its a sweet mixer and sweet fader. now that the price has come down its my choice for the backup set of decks.
  3. Audition supports VST so you'll be wanting to buy the Waves Diamond bundle , and also for lots of good freeware stuff go to: http://www.kvraudio.com/ and http://www.smartelectronix.com (be sure to goto Destroy FX and get buffer override - literally hours of fun)
  4. Can't say I'm feelin the rhymes much, and the drums seem a bit low in the mix - could be a result of the format. The 'guitar' sample is money though.
  5. what dee said, plus its very short - you should give yourself more time to get in 'the zone'
  6. i'm with mixologist. if you want to use effects you can buy a studio quality multi fx unit and jack it into your 05 - which is a sweet ass mixer. The numark digital faders break real easy in my experience.
  7. This is hot shit, thanks for sharing Dee. I shall try this tomorrow when i am sober.
  8. yet again............... MPC TUTOR
  9. it is the smell of the sex. oh yes. Turntable Lab Soul Strut
  10. well at least the album did.
  11. very groovy little synth - one of my favourite things that came out while i was working at turnkey - you can get a really massive sound out of it (it's the same engine as the MS2000/2000b but with limited voices), the vocoder is hella fun to mess around with and its cheap as chips. The keys are indeed a bit small, but i think of this is as an endearing quirk rather than a serious flaw; you can always use a full size midi keyboard to control it if you want to get all virtuoso. plus it runs on batteries so you can noodle on the bus ! Oh and the microphone is included and is just a regular computer gooseneck affair, so it will not bump up the price - not quite sure where you got that idea, rygon. best thing to do is get down to a shop and have a few goes on one and see for yourself. its miles better than anything else at the same pricepoint.
  12. Which is why you'll find B&Ws in loads of professional and project studios ? Don't get me wrong, once you get accustomed to a speaker setup and know where things are being coloured and you can compensate, its fine. And a mid priced hifi setup is certainly going to be better than the cheapo 'monitor' speakers available these days. But it can take ages to figure that colouration out. For the record i have a set of old B&Ws (and very good they are too) and mixed on them for ages, but once i got some monitors it really was a revelation to listen to some stuff i'd done only recently (cue much tinkering and buggering about with old stuff)
  13. don't get confused hifi and monitor speakers confused, two totally different applications. monitors are designed to give as accurate a picture as possible of the output i.e. a flat frequency response. Put simply, monitor speakers are designed to make your music sound dull and boring as opposed to hifi which are supposed to make it sound all zingy and exciting. As with hifi, the defining factor as what to choose from will be your budget. How much cash do you have to spend mike ?
  14. Meant to post this ages ago but the site went down. Ok, first of all Trilogy is a sample library, not a synth. Granted, it has sampled synth patches included and you have some scope for editing them, but nothing like as much control as you would have with a proper synth. Give us a bit more info about what you want out of a synth McDarth - is it just for basslines? would you prefer hardware or software? what is your budget (if any) how technically competent are you ? have you got a grasp of the basics of synthesis? Bear in mind that alot of 'hardware' synths these days are actually soft synths with their own dedicated hardware to run on. If you want true analogue then there are plenty of older synths suitable for bass available for not too much. IF you want a synth purely for bass then I would recommend going down the analogue monophonic route as it won't cost the earth and will sound arguably better than the other types. Some cheap hardware synths that are popluar for basslines : Roland SH101 Waldorf Pulse (I have one of these and its just fucking awesome) Korg MS20 check www.vintagesynth.com for an exhaustive list On the software side of things Trilogy is excellent. It in no way sounds 'lame' - though bear in mind it's divided up into acoustic, electric and synth bass. You'll also need about 3 gigs free HD space for it. Arturia's software version of the minimoog is simply amazing as well if you want to go down this route - it will always sound characteristically 'moogy' but thats not necessarily a bad thing. feel free to fire off any questions you might have.
  15. 'The Champions' DMC vid. Specifically, the roc raida set and qbert 'upside-down record rubbing insanity' routine. oh, and puppetmaster swift's chicken dance routine of course.
  16. Banano

sounds fuckin mad (and typically koalaish) get videos/pictures/audio/whatever!
  17. Don't bother with cubase for mac, it's a waste of time (also on pc imo). logic is a lovely program.
  18. [smug twat]Magnetic fader over here <------------- if it breaks in the next five years, I just ask em for a new one. yay! [/smug twat]
  19. pro tools is a hardware + software system. Though it's possible to use the hardware with some other applications, it's not possible to run the software without PT hardware so you're shit outta luck if you're looking for a crack. There is a free version for win98/me which is limited to 8 tracks . goto www.digidesign.com and search for 'free windows' if you want it. peace.
  20. No need for an apostrophe there my man.
  21. listening quality is too poor, sorry. Do you have a better quality version you can torrent ?
