  1. The statements / questions are a bit vague? You say you have good connection MOST of the time, except when visiting certain sites? Which browser do you use? I recommened firefox. You shouldn't need to turn on and off the computer. Most 99% of settings should be changeable directly in windows. Regarding deleting files, Open explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View Then Uncheck Hide Protected System Files and Check Show Hidden Files Then go back to explore and you can see any files that may be lurking around. Check the Recycle bin and make sure everything in there is deleted. Also make sure to Empty Temporary Internet files from IE or whatever Hope this helps! peace!
  2. I got 20MB download from Virgin at £45 a month. Main advantage is, it's so fast I don't need a TV (+licence fee) or a SKY whatever. Can download a dvd in about 5 mins flat. Main reason I'm with Virgin is cause Branson is, apparently, the only Brit with enough balls to tell Murdock to go f' himself. I really pity people with SKY, they may as well be that guy at the end of clockwork orange for the amount of propergada their exposed too. And since "Traitor" Lord Grade stuffed the BBC before he moved conveniently to SKY, it's left us nearly as bad off as the US for garbage TV. check www.bbc5.tv for an antidote to all of this ALSO, I was in Asia about 5 years ago and any basic, run of the mill, standard line rental was a minimum of 10MB back then. It's like we've become a 2nd(3rd) world country. Still, our TV keep telling us we're the greatest so ... we must be .... right! :0) he hee

www.bbc5.tv ;0) Well, if the official one won't do their job properly, we'll just start our own
  4. I've been wanting to get a custom flight case that will take a battle setup with mixer and two 1200's. Almost everywhere I've looked have just the standard "regular" dj setup. Does anyone have any tips on where to find a Battle DJ flight case (i.e. for 1200's turned 90degrees)? or ... has anyone bought one and regretted it ? (eg: too heavy) :0)
  5. In order to "reduce" the size of tracks to mp3 or wav or whatever .. what actually happens is that "inaudible" sounds ABOVE and BELOW the range of human hearing are simple CUT-OUT. This has one massive and major-major disadvantage. What people don't realise is what your ears can't hear, your body CAN FEEL. All these youngsters raving about mp3's are totally and utterly missing the whole point. mp3s and digital music in general have NO FEELING! Play and old vinyl record and your body knows it. mp3's where supposed to be just a temporary measure to deal with the early days of slow internet. I pity all those who dumped their records for cd's. They can't get the quality back! Still, digital has obvious advantages that have very little to do with "raising the quality" and more to do with "saving your lazy ass some effort" :0) ...
  6. I worked for a guy running mobile discos for about a year and loved most of it. I used to haul a transit with bass bins, amp rig, cd cases, lights, smoke machine, kareoke tv's, the lot ... Certainly need to be physically fit. Also, I found playing "crappy" tunes was counteracted by the fact that people loved it. Play spice girls and get 100 girls all dancing infront of you makes it all seem worth while. ;0) It can be a very hard job. Lots of lads coming up to you saying things like "play oasis or we'll kick your head in" and once oasis is playing, a group of girls coming up and saying "change to spice girls ... or we'll kick your head in". :0) Keep a good balance and use the "I'll just coming up to playing that one" excuse often. This keeps everyone happy and gives overall job satisfaction. Christmas and New year are definately the best as you can charge £400+. About 3 or 4 times regular charge. Sometimes Club DJing is boring as you only get to play one genre, weddings you get to play 60's,70's, dance, sould, whatever ... I am of the opinion that ALL music genre's have Great and Crap tracks, so as long as you stick o the goodies, you'll have a blast. I also worked for one of the better guys as he had more lights and smoke machines to make for an overall much better show. Hope this helps! Peace! djdj
  7. I definately used to be ... Some progs like winAMP get around this as they can auto hide underscore and %20% Increasingly, the actual filename is being superceeded by the idv tag info. Perhaps the way we browse actually files in explorer leads to some of these issues. Underscores, taking the lowest possible pixel position and space, interfer less when browsing folders with literally thousands of mp3. blah
  8. ... is it possible to get it moved there? :0)
  9. in the mac ... you have to make sure "Windows File Sharing" is started in System Preferences > Sharing
  10. Just wanted to ask a few bods to discuss ways to title files. For example, I just downloaded an mp3 from SendIt, on of the mixes by a DJ on DV. When I got the track the title was something like ... trackname.mp3 There wasn't any idv data, artist name, nothing .... With so many mp3s floating around its very easy to get lost this way Some tips I have learn't when naming mp3s. 1: Include artists name and title of song in filename eg: dvdj_trackname.mp3 At least then we can search on google ;0) and/or 2: Include the website name eg: mysitename_com_dvdj_trackname.mp3 3: Best avoid using !"£$%&^&*(= as it can be a pain in the A* trying to burn CD's later on. Some programs get confused with special characters in titles. No spaces either or you get a bunch of %20% things all over. Plus they become difficult to share online. A lot of ftp progs hate spaces. Instead use "_" underscore as above. You can name 10,000 mp3s and never use more than an underscore and still get the point. $orry Smootie ;0) 4: Use lowercase. Again, many applications treat upper and lower case differently, so you should try to stick with lowercase. :0) Just a quick post, perhaps you can dispute these tips with good arguements against or add a few new ones to the pot. ez! d2the
  11. where the link for the pics of the girl in your user thumbnail? ;0) hee hee
  12. Stupid Mo'Fo's (parden e moi french) They keep comin' up with slogans like "WOW! Super Dooper, now even super-mega-faster 4Mbs" from BT The average home in Hong Kong has been on 10Mbs for at least a year now. Just a load a rip-off artists, holding back the real tech so fools will pay. There are plent of novice computer types to be impressed by this lowely number! There are already offers of 22MBs from serious vendours. :0) no offence, but I ain't be fallin' for it no more. Quit wasting tonnes of our cash on paperwork and corporate bonuses and we be at 10TeraBs by now.
  13. I made this. http://www.capadien.com/mp3/bout_to_get_busy.mp3 Someone said I should post on DV, so I have. :0) All reviews welcome. peaze! djdj
