  1. well, yeah, theremins? you just got zinged blard. the application doesn't have to be totally scratch centric though- like i said it'd be cool to see a group of people dancing from one side of a stage to another with a realtime sound effect each, perhaps they're all wearing different colours so they can get tracked... but even that's not the point. og man probably argued they already had wood and shit when the stone age first came around, and that they already had stone when the bronze age came around, and all the other ages that i would know if i was like, into history and shit. in the grand scheme of things, what's the point of anything? we're all gonna die...
  2. other application for this: realtime audio manipulation via dance and drama. on my first idea the platter could be transparent and the record on top could be tracked. how does the cdx (and denon spinning platter, ns7, etc) work? i suppose this whole approach isn't worth pursuing if there's a mechanical way to do this, and presumably there is hence aforementioned products existing. but there *are* applications for this technology, you bunch of naysayers. ps foly you *are* sad.
  3. this is amazing and could actually work as super high resolution hid. imagine a box with a platter and a capture device inside it, which is capturing the underside of the platter as it moves. as long as the capture rate was at least, say, 180fps and the resolution was... well vga would give you over 1500 positions on the circumference i suppose, it could track the movement of the platter better than timecode. i have no idea what's easier on a computer to process, audio or video input, especially at high levels... maybe it's not worth it and audio timecode is always going to be better. i presume, although really i have no idea about this stuff, that it would take less bandwidth to send 240fps @ 520x520 than it would to send standard 1080p hd... if this sounds like it would work then i've copyrighted it, otherwise just ignore me
  4. matt was yours genuinely played live or are you telling porkie pies?
  5. i have a bit of a download queue at the moment, finally getting down with eastbound and down, but i will check em out in the meantime any chance of a content listing to each dl?
  6. what are they, remixes you've done or components to songs you've made?
  7. i feel bad now, all these people that said hello then never said anything again... i swear this is the first time i've seen this thread in months and months!! hello, anyway
  8. awwww shit it's disappeared already! fucking wikipedia are like the flash with that shit!!
  9. oops, btw (wax's gag was lost on me, i'm man enough to admit it). is there any similarity between braille and morse? ...off to wikipedia i guess
  10. i've no idea what the original sounds like but i like this that lead makes me keep expecting a thinnosedbutstillblack michael jackson to cock grab his way across the myspace page.
  11. i am having the craziest deja vu about this board, diggla, braille, and google homepage. i can't put my finger on it exactly but it's a very strong feeling...
  12. it's based on vista, but not only that, the support for legacy os software is better than vista. so hopefully it'll be just dandy.
  13. i've had almost no problems with the test build, to be honest i think it's as good a system as os x- just very different sometimes. i hope they've sorted the spacing out on the superbar though, it's so ugly compared to the os x dock.
  14. it's got the resolution, will something trying to send 720p to it automatically just put black bars at the top and bottom?
  15. talk talk isn't bad as an alternative to bt- no bt line rental or anything like that. you just need to have a bit of your own initiative when you need help because their technical support is atrocious unless you're lucky and get someone who actually knows what they're on about... they have a 40gb monthly limit but it's not enforced, i think it's just to put super leechers off. and as steve said, don't be swayed by what they say they'll give you on the advert. i'm just over a mile from the exchange here, i thought that'd be good but to get anything over 3mb you need to literally be in the hundreds of yards from the exchange, apparently.
  16. i'm working my way through these but i think the first two, churchill and isit, are EXCELLENT
  17. i thought these were good i think squeeze has potential but the myspace player doesn't do it any favours, there's no real low end. tree is very nice. real shame about the myspace player stealing the bass. bitter is nice and foreboding. one critisism i have about all the tracks is that they're over long. i would rather they were three minutes or so and reload them myself than them be going on for five or six minutes but only really have three minutes of material in.
  18. you didn't really have much to work with, it's just lift music to my ears- without substance. your version is much better because the electric piano actually has a 'narrative melody', if you will. i see what matt is saying about the style of the track not being much different- but yours i'd listen to again, his i wouldn't.
  19. enjoyed this will, it reminded me of when i first started hearing dubstep and it wasn't all exactly the same 'half tempo hardstyle' stuff that i hear now. u gotta up that bitrate when you export though, bass sounded thin as fuck at 128
  20. david mitchell's soapbox is hilarious.
