rygon
myself like many others use NTL for there web provider, unfortunately the proxy is the same all across the board..what does this mean you say? well nothing, unless you want to d/l off places like RAPIDSHARE. This will stop you from d/l anything as it will say "to many d/l off this proxy". End of the world...no just use a free proxy serverhttp://proxy4free.com is one which steve gladly linked us to aand i find great. all good so far..so how do i use it..well follow these simple steps.....choose a proxy you like..i choose this one as it was the 1st i came to and the port number was 80..for some reason i find 80 is the only one that works for me...i assume this is to do with my firewall. _____________________________________________________________FOR FIREFOXfrom here open TOOLS>OPTIONS>CONNECTION SETTINGS click manual proxy configuration and enter the proxy and port..for mine it would look like this. i also click the "use the same proxy for all protocols"...do i need to...well i dunno but it doesnt do no harm.once ok's r pressed then thats it you r done and happy to d/l anything you want to...you run out of d/l space on this server..go to another proxy _____________________________________________________________FOR INTERNET EXPLORERfrom here open TOOLS> INTERNET OPTIONS click CONNECTIONS tab then LAN SETTINGS. add the proxy and port. as tick the appropriate boxes..and voila its all done once you press OK.as i said above, you run out of d/l space on this server..go to another proxy
Steve
In Firefox you can also use the SwitchProxy extension: - https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/morei...=firefox&id=125 Also, use Google and find your own proxies! If we all use the same site then none of them are gonna work. There are stacks of proxy sites out there.
Steve
Another thing. When you check the box to use a proxy, hit the Advanced button and enter it into the top box only, like this: - There's no need to have "Automatically detect settings" checked on the previous screen really. In some cases it can slow things down.
