iexist Posted July 3, 2005 Share Posted July 3, 2005 i have a 1 file mix (.mp3) on my hd, it is the Scratch Perverts _ Essential Mix, 160 MB file... everytime i try to delete it, it just freezes.. and then my explorer.exe will stop responding.. i thought it may be b/c of the HUGE ID tag it has, but i cant even access the properties of the file to delete the tag... it just freezes when i do that.. how can i delete this file? Steve Posted July 3, 2005 Share Posted July 3, 2005 You've got HijackThis right? Start it up and on the screen where you usually scan, hit "Config" on the right. Steve Posted July 3, 2005 Share Posted July 3, 2005 If it was an avi movie file, it can happen for two reasons. The first is an out of date version of the DivX codec. If you don't have the latest version, uninstall it and install the latest. The second is a bug in Windows itself. To fix it, run Regedit and browse to this key: - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}\InProcServer32 Right click on the InProcServer32 part and choose delete. Reboot your PC and the problem is fixed. If it's any other type of file it can be for a number of reasons - the file is in use by a program, it's corrupt, it has a name that's too long etc. If that's the case then just use one of the methods above to delete it.
