DeriveOne
...does anybody think this is a bad idea? I finally decided to broaden my scratch horizons and get a scratchable cd player I mean, I've read up on them and stuff and I watched the Dstyles vid clip where he's usin it, it seems like a solid machine, and cheaper and smaller than a Numark CDX the dope thing is with that tascam wheel I can use my existing turntables with it....I love that has anybody has any first hand esperience with one of these yet? Phology
ye iv got one, had it for a while now.. the only thing that i dont like about it is..wen u do slow scratches like drags, it sounds really digital.. other than that its well worth the money, and pretty good price to!the effects are good, and i love the loop function!!on the CDJ's, if u make a loop and ur out by the tinyest bit it makes a really annyoing click.but on the CDX's its realy smooth oh yeah. and it is impossible to scratch with the jog dial.. Jon
phology- do you have to take it oog when u want to play a record? or can u keep it on and just turn it on when you want to skratch a cd?

iexist
well, i was referring to the technics as was derive.. but anyway =P. derive.. lets u and i go in on a cdx and keep it at my place..
Phology
phology- do you have to take it oog when u want to play a record? or can u keep it on and just turn it on when you want to skratch a cd?it clips into the spare stylus holder on Vestax decksand into the dust cover holder on technics and most other decks.. u jus flip it down onto the record to control a CD on the turntableand flip it up to use normal vinyl i tried once, using the tascam with a CD...and the needle on a vinyl at the same time,a fresh sample on the CD and aaahh on the vinyl,so u scratch 2 sounds at once.. i wana try it with drumming soon.. man I wish you wouldnt have said that....does it sound as bad as the technics cdx? its weird. on the d-styles vid it sounds not too bad,but every one iv actually tried and used, it sounds really digital..i havnt used the technics so cant comment.. sayin that tho, as i sed its worth the money if u want a CD deck, its great for normal speed scratching, and mixing, and its compact, and is set-out well. Kian
technics cd turntable player sucked, if you start with a kick at 12 o clock and spin it 3 revs back quickly, then spin 3 revs foward to original spot, the kick is no longer there.
iexist
i dont like the way cd turntables feel... which is why i only think to get a numarkcdx.... but yeah, money is an object..
Alan
I've played with the Technics and the Numark side by side. The Technics has an mp3 scratch. =p The CDX is def. worth your money... but I know people who've gone through like... three of them. Be careful. ><

Mista_Ed
i have some of these...and i think theyre wicked... i prefer the response and sound of these to the numarks to be honest.... being able to use ya decks is mint... slow scratches....yeah....a wee bit digi......but whatever..not enough to cry about what else can i say about these... oh yeah... they work better on the vestax tables than the techs....i think cos they have been 'calibrated' for the optimum shit on pdxs... pzz

Mista_Ed
yeah... theyre kinda bum without the tascam controller...
Deft
Yeah I wish that Tascam controller was licensed to all the cd decks. I don't think much of the CDX-05 as a cd player but it's worth it with the controller for scratching.
Liam
What kinda interface does the Tascam unit use? Is it like a null-modem connection, or something a bit more fancy? If it's something I can interface to a PC, then I think I just found myself a summer project.

Deft
Yeah knock me up a VST which uses the controller and I'll bung you a few quid for the effort.
