Steve
If you use WinMX then by default it connects to the WinMX server. There are dozens of other servers you can connect to though. To add a list of servers into WinMX, follow these instructions: - First off, download this attachment and unzip it somewhere: - _Jaggers__PUBLIC__OK__20050418_20050419_20050420_20050421.zip Start WinMX and let it connect as normal.Click the Networks button at the top.Click the wide OpenNap Protocal Networks button top right.Click Import .WSX and browse to the unzipped file you downloaded. A list of servers should now appear in red. To connect to one of them, click it to select it, then click Connect. You can connect to them all like this: - Left click the top server in the list.Hold down shift and left click the bottom server in the list to highlight them all.Click Connect. As servers start to connect they will turn green. The more you connect to, the more results you'll get - simple as that! OpenNap servers do not support multi-source downloading, so if you have a choice of downloads, choose the WinMX network first. To periodically update the list of servers, click the Find .WSX button to search for the latest list. Another useful tool for finding servers is Napigator. Download it here: - http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_desc...fid,7407,00.asp It's ad-supported unless you pay to register it, but they are only banner ads in the program itself - there is no spyware. Steve
I guess nobody uses WinMX then?
Mixologist
I have it, it's nice but there's just no files on there, so i might try this. Bearshare lite is nice though so i've been sticking with that, Anyways we won't need winMX once we have the DVP2P!
Guest Deeswift
I tried it Steve, I'm not sure if I like the software. My downloads just stopped and haven't really gone anywhere either.
Steve
WinMX connects to one server. With this you can connect to around 100 more of varying sizes. Some are specialist servers for certain things too. You'll just have to try it and see. Sometimes you search in WinMX and find nothing - then you connect to these extra servers, do the same search and find fucking loads.
Steve
I tried it Steve, I'm not sure if I like the software. My downloads just stopped and haven't really gone anywhere either. Really? That's a shame mate. The only problem with OpenNap servers is you might start a huge download and then never find that person again to carry on with it. I use it if I'm looking for single tracks more than albums.
Guest Deeswift
I was after a few albumwraps, but it's no big deal.

Guest Deeswift
OK, I uninstalled it. I don't think I like the way WinMX works. I had it a few years back and this kinda reminded me why I didn't like it, it's software I just can never click with.
Alan
OK, I uninstalled it. I don't think I like the way WinMX works. I had it a few years back and this kinda reminded me why I didn't like it, it's software I just can never click with.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sounds about right. I don't really enjoy using that horrid user interface. That's why I made the switch to LimeWire. =)
lemchopz
I used WINMX a few years ago but havent done so since then.. I liked it before but there are so many more better progs out there now.
Steve
I don't agree. Soulseek is toss - no multi-source for a start and the search rarely works. eMule is slow as fuck. What else is good? Kazaa? It's full of fakes and shit quality songs. Take all the people sharing files on those networks and put them on WinMX and we'd all be a lot better off. pedostyle
what about limewire? havent used it much tho
Steve
I tried Limewire once and it was sloooooooow. I think you're best off using a combination of programs. I use Soulseek, WinMX & eMule Plus along with torrents and I've found most stuff that I've been after.
