i think deadlines to apply ended last month

but im sure if u send in a demo now, it'll get a listen

and more than likely you'll get a place

u shud be able to order an Application Form from the website

jus send in a three track demo CD with the form (also cheque for course fee)

1 track has to beatmixing (so jus a lil set)

and if u make any of your own beats, whack 2 or 3 of them on aswell

you should hear back in a few weeks

im not 100% but u shud get in

are u guna be living at home or moving out?

if ur moving out u wana start looking at places soon/now

and going on the ACM Forum to hook up with peeps to share a house

(i jus called all the DJ's on a list u'll get, and asked em)

hope that helps...

yeah.. im gonna ask to lend a technic 1210 tonight.. i looked at last years application form and it said to send in a half hour set showing advanced mixing and scratching techniques, so did they change it for this year then?

the application form i picked up in january says higher diploma applicants should 'perform a mix of your choice displaying all the basic skills (and any additional skills you may have) required by a DJ. i.e. accurate beatmatching, good use of crossfader, good selection of music. The mix should be no longer than 30 minutes. You can include a track listining if u wish.'

'the average higher diploma student will usually have 2-3 years bedroom dj'ing experience and would normally be expected to have played live in a club, or party environment. They should be able to play at least 2 styles of music and be able to demonstrate some of the more advanced techniques of djing, i.e.e scratching, accapella mixing, phrase mixing, and use of EQ'

hope that helps

yeah its really good

you dont have 'scratch teachers'

basically, its jus like any other college..

you got:

Les Adams: Pre Production & Theory & Applied Harmony

Jamie Griffiths: Post & Professional Production

Proffesor Stretch: MIT & Studio Recording

Jim Jomoa: Business Studies

Chad Jackson: Composition & Arrangment

most of the time we are in the DJ room

we do theory for half the lesson and then go on the decks for the rest

but we have lessons in other rooms aswell

i suppose Jamie is kind of our scratch teacher

he used to be with Hybrid (if anyone else has heard of em?)

our last term, starting next week, is all turntablism with Jamie

so that'll be cool!

cool- do all the students do the same stuff? so house djs do the same as hiphop etc- cos you're going to be having a huge advatnage over them if you are all taking turntablism

ye, each term progresses

they obviously see turtablism as the hardest form to master

so they cover it on the last term

i think we're even doing a team battle thing within the class aswell

each row has to perform a routine
