Mike-L
I just popped an old P&G fader into my 07 and it's got a fair bit of wobble on it. I know they're not as sturdy feeling as innofader etc but I was surprised it felt the way it did. Does anyone else have a P&G fader and if so does it wobble? Are there any tricks to reducing it? Cheers
ericuk
Where's the wobbling coming from dude? Have you had the fader out and apart? The last p&g I used had screws through the 2 metal bars, could they be loose?
Mike-L
Ah yes. Thsts a good suggestion . I just bunged it straight into my mixer without tinkering first. The fader wobbles at right angles to the usual fader axis.
Mike-L
So I've took it apart and out the screws back in really tight but it's no different. There seems to be a lot of space inside, so I think it might be the way it always was and I've just got used to using more solid faders. mfsop
Did you take the complete thing apart or did you only tighten the screws connecting the fader with the cover? Maybe, things get better once you've taken everything apart. I used to have some play on my faders at times and often it was just the rail or dust cover above it being slightly off. If the feel of the fader is not sturdy enough to your liking, you could bend the wipers a little bit towards the track, so you get more resistance. P&Gs can be a bit diva-esque - one unfirm screw and the whole thing can wobble. Still great faders, though.
Mike-L
Yeah I took the whole thing apart. I think I lined everything up OK. I might try some of your suggestions this afternoon. Cheers.
Guest It'sPhilFromThursdays
It's funny, me and Edkut were discussing this the other week on the way over to Rye. I've never really experienced it, except screws coming loose, but Ed had a couple go this way. I guessed it was cos the metal contact strips slowly become less taut, but he didnt report back as he got an innofader and Pro x. Maybe get a new stem and check it out, they're only £20. The only wobble i experienced was like Eric said, the screws in the plate getting loose. ericuk
My inno wobbles a bit. I think everything starts to wobble when you get to this age in life. I've got a P&G kicking about somewhere. If I can find it, I'll try and find some potential fixes.
Acts_One
the crossfader goes from left to right... not up and down. Those are your line faders. Stop breaking your shit.....
kebzer
I also got a P&G with a lot of wobble. I think it was OK back in the day, but now that we got spoiled by all these new CFs, this is pretty noticeable.
Phology
i recently snapped my P&G crossfader, and most peoples comments suggest that the stems are pretty weak to begin with and prone to snapping. so be careful!
