How to back up and restore Opera browser settings

If you use Opera, it's a good idea to keep a backup of certain files, just in case you want to do a clean install, or if your hard drive dies or whatever. Losing all of your bookmarks or wand passwords is a pain in the arse, so here's some things you can back up.

Browse to this folder, assuming you installed Opera in its default location: -

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera

Make a backup of the following files if they exist: -

bookmarks.adr (all of your bookmarks)

cookies4.dat (cookies)

search.ini (search settings)

speeddial.ini (Speed Dial settings)

urlfilter.ini (when you block ads and other items, the info is stored in this file)

wand.dat (all of your saved logins and passwords)

If you ever need to do a clean install of Opera, install it, start it up, then exit the program. Browse to the Opera folder mentioned above and copy over your backed up files, overwriting any that are already in there. That'll restore all of your bookmarks, cookies, search settings, Speed Dial settings, blocked content and ads, and saved logins and passwords.
