I'm djing with him next month. He's got a good following within the jump up circle as far as I gather, on Doctor P's label. The bassline chord changes of that track really put me off it unfortunetly :(

^Can't stand this, the bassline chord changes make me cringe..

Very little of the jump up stuff does it for me anymore, it's at the point now where you can't tell a lot of producers apart. The genre has become oversaturated with people just trying to achieve more 'filthy' basslines than each other and it puts me off loads of it. There's a few people making original tracks in the jump up sound though.

There's still tonnes of good stuff out though once you wade through all the tear out and jumpup. Mount Kimbie, James Blake, Cosmin TRG, Skream and Breakage are just a few who have all put out solid releases recently. Joker is still killing it with his original productions as well. Om Unit has made an anthem with Searching too:

What's tear out and jump up?

Jump up and tear out are normally terms associated with drum and bass but can be applied to some dubstep too. Jump up used to be associated with tracks like super sharp shooter but has since developed into really in your face wobbly bass and synth led drum and bass intended to get everyone dancing but also has a sense of aggyness attached to it and the raves where it's played, although I've met loads of really nice fellas who make it. DJ Hazard, example, would be an example of a well known jump up dnb producer:

Jump up isn't used as often to describe dubstep but I personally use it to describe the wobbly led stuff that people immediately associate with the genre :

The bass in this too:

and this is awful...

There's also drumstep which is drum and bass with half time kick and snare patterns but maintaining regular drum and bass hi hats:

There's good stuff in both genres and I used to really like the dubstep side of it (i posted a couple of mixes here this time last year) and still find jumpup dubstep tracks I like every now and then and will play it at student nights and the odd night in small quantities but a lot of it sounds all too similar and boring to me after a while, too many people using the same presets... Can't say I've ever liked jump up dnb all that much though! It makes a lot of people happy though so...

The clientel at raves of both aren't that fun in my experience...
