trick
Well, not remove IE per se - more "how to make IE invisible to XP, so that it points all calls and shell commands to your browser of choice"... http://crackbaby.com/article.php?sid=10093
2ndhand
taken from this site: For those non-techies out there who don't feel up to this task, there is an easier way to avoid this problem... switch to Linux. consider that.
Steve
"2. Go to add/remove programs in control panel. Remove IE. Reboot." IE isn't in the add/remove programs section of XP. It is in previous versions of Windows.
2ndhand
it wouldnt be a wise idea to remove such an integral part of xpfine dont use it if you dont want to, but dont remove it. just ignore it these same folks are probably popping up saying"xp is shit, it keeps crashing etc etc etc" and its no wonder
Guest Deeswift
No, don't remove it, just ignore it. If you use a browser such as Firefox (or some other shit), you can set it as your default browser easy enough so everything opens in your choice of browser. You will need IE for Windows Updates and a couple of crap sites by web designers who don't know how to code properly. You CAN remove it 100% if need be (can't imagine why), and that's by using XPLite. This app is the only thing that can get rid of WMP too. Steve
Just download Windows Updates from here if you're that bothered....... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search....?displaylang=en There are many sites you need IE to view though, due to ActiveX support. It depends what sites you look at I guess. Removing any of XP's core components is a bad idea because they are part of the Windows shell. That is why there is no option to remove them. Clownstyle
I tried removing xp once. It worked ok for a while ...then i did something stupid :s I ran a registry cleaner and because IE was no longer on the computer it removed all the ties with IE. Loaded mozilla and all the bloody fonts were missing!!! And the moral of the story is...... Dont bother removing IE
