I think the older you get the more you try and get into things through the mental process instead of just "doing it" - i had an 8 year old girl doing 2/2 tears straight away! He was OK too, didn't really have his flares down at the time either, but could chirp, crab, transform, fade, tear, etc. He couldn't count bars when QnAing though...
