DJDelay
Ez peeps, My PC crashed a week ago and it was totally wrecked. Either it was hit with a virus or i vistied a dodgy porn site or something...anyway my dad gave to some guy at his work who thankfully fixed it. But now when i stick a dvd into the PC it won't work. PowerDVD doesn't play them, and when i try them in Media Player 10 it just freezes. I think i'm missing a codec?? If anyone could help it would be appreciated Cheers pz

DJDelay
Cheers for that Dub-Se7en it worked, but now the video playing has some lag to it, like the program is struggling to play the dvd at its correct speed Any tips to improve this in XP or is it to do with PowerDVD6? Steve
Sounds like you still have something dodgy on your machine mate. Go HERE and download a program called HijackThis. Create a folder for it and unzip it there. Then, reboot your PC and when it first boots, before you start any other programs, run HijackThis and click Scan, then Save Log. Copy and paste the entire log into this thread and I'll have a look for you.

DJDelay
Seems to be working ok now I think my sh*tty graphics card might have something to do with it
Steve
That's a pretty clean log mate and I don't see anything that could be causing your problem. There are still a couple of things that can go though. Run HijackThis again and have it fix these: - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroCheck] C:\WINDOWS\System32\\NeroCheck.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_06\bin\jusched.exe O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - (no file) These next two are optional. The first is for the PowerDVD remote control. If you don't own a remote control for your PC then tick that one. The second is for MSN Messenger. If you don't want it starting when your PC boots then tick that one too.: - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RemoteControl] "C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PDVDServ.exe" O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background Highlight the items you want removing, then close ALL browser windows and hit Fix Checked. Then all you need to do is reboot. Are you sure you have the correct drivers installed for your graphics card?
Dub-Se7en
check your DMA settings in device manager, under cd-rom drives. alternativly, use the diag tool that comes with power dvd to check dma status
