rofl, the automator action is real simple... just two things finder: "get selected finder items" + iTunes: "add file to playlist". Select an appropriate playlist and save the action as a plug-in for the Finder. Now you can start it with the right mouse button (Automator -> name of your action).

hm, iTunes stores everything.. i have a folder on my desktop with music not in iTunes and a playlist named add where i drag new stuff into. I´ll do the tags and delete the file in the folder on my desktop. Its important to drag new stuff into a playlist because you might loose a file without any artist or album in your libary... at least in my 90gig libary. The automator is a great tool for boring jobs like renaming files or sorting stuff into folders. For a quick introduction read http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/automator/ Just try it out. hm, dunno if i understood you... you want to do a playlist with stuff that is not in the iTunes libary but at some place of your comp? I.e. you want to put stuff in a certain folder and iTunes should add the stuff to its libary and put it in a certain playlist? You cant do that just with a playlist but you can create an Automator action that does that for you. I can do one (takes 3min) and send it to you but i dunno if it will work on another comp..

The availability of good mixing software changed mixing from an art to a craft because it doesnt take more than some patience to do a perfect mix.

I did. my mates laughed about it but for 85€ (upgrade from Logic 6) there was an additional DVD with roughly 1000 instruments for Logics sample player... which are my main toolbox nowadays.
