  1. do you mean one shots or phrases? i'm guessing one shots?
  2. how are the pots and sliders iexist? they aren't great on a 2500 there's too much deadzone.
  3. i'll join as well. has beepaahfresh been taken?
  4. there're elements of that mix i really like... basically the breaks part, i suppose the hardcore bits grind on me a bit. three garage tunes i really liked, haven't heard in years and am dragging off the top of my head are http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5AAWsmF2beQ dnd diamond rings http://www.vinylsearcher.com/Dance-Music/N...tails/G232.aspx dj trubalsom take it to the front suburban lick here comes the lick dj south central remix i liked a lot of the r&b remixes especially the philly soul stuff, i liked the 'proper' producers like mj cole and stuff, etc. i think 'jackin house' is more what i was after actually. some of this baltimore club stuff seems cool too. i'm on a heck of a ramble today sorry ha
  5. okay so i've gotten hold of the ministry presents bassline compilation, knowing of course how ministry of sound cds are right on the cutting edge of all music scenes ... anyway so yeah, i'm not having a great time, it's excessively saccharin (even though i like a ruffneck bassline or an r&b vocal mashup as much as the next bloke) and production quality doesn't seem to have raised nearly enough since the last time ukg was popular- in fact it generally seems to be using poorer sounds and shallower synths. i'm starting to realise that it's not called uk garage anymore because it's had the soul sucked out of it and it's not speed garage because it's not nearly ruff enough... however i suppose all ministry of sound comps sound a bit like this. to be honest i made a few tunes about 7 years ago that could have gone on here but they sounded dated then. it was mainly that benga track and a couple of others on the advert that made me think about it a bit... i wish i hadn't thrown away all my old tapes i had some well good ones. rambling
  6. is this just what uk garage is called now? can you still make uk garage or would it be called niche now? where's the line between bassline and dubstep or is there just a crossover depending on mood? in one way i don't care at all, obviously, it all just seems like people trying to create a scene for the sake of seeming like they're at the forefront of something, on the other hand it would be helpful to know for the purposes of categorising what kind of music you play or your night is going to have on. i don't want to say there's going to be bassline and get shanked for playing a garage or dubstep tune. is bassline in fact just a crossover scene full stop? these are important questions that need to be answered gents.
  7. extremely unlikely, but i might try for northampton because it's the closest thing to 'down the road' and i've never been. these things seem to come round so quickly...
  8. in town this man's got bare super 8s and reels at the market i always walk past when i'm digging and um and aah about getting one, what's a good price/performance split for having fun with? i've got no idea
  9. not even close. i've done quite a few good guesses today, thought i might carry on trying...
  10. for some reason i am going to guess that is the necro interview. i will post back in a second
  11. i thought the difference was pretty plain, hence my first comment :S maybe you're right, i could be second guessing myself
  12. and yet itunes etc still insists on encoding at shitty bitrates...
  13. you're a bit late, this caused quite a stir a few months ago, but interesting nonetheless... i think it was arkei that knows the swiss dude and was going to try and get a couple of pictures of the original unit?
  14. sounds fun, i'll look forward to the video it would be quite fun if this kind of thing became standard and simple to use from a dj perspective, we did a night with a couple of blokes doing the visuals from a laptop but i always used to be worried they were just putting signs up saying "bellend ---->" and such while i was playing
  15. i think the only real advantage to the 32 is the banks for the pots and sliders, which if i understand correctly the 24 doesn't have. if you need a lot of midi assignments at once, the 32 is probably the way to go. otherwise it's just two extra sliders innit. the 24 and 32 both have the same pads and sensors as the 2500, which are much better than the 16 and the oldskool 1000.
  16. excellent news! one more thing then, i suppose the internets are littered with answers to this but i'll ask anyway- do i definitely want a slim and light or is a good deal on a normal one worth it?
  17. thx mr dee, i'll look into it! so if i wanted to, say, run neo geo games, a new game running off a memory stick, and a new game running off a umd all in one session, would i need to mess about with upgrading/downgrading before and after certain things?
  18. yo, i seem to be coming up with a load of shite and very little in the way of 'THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO' guides, i'm thinking of switching the ds for a psp but only if i can run backups and emulators and shit on it... who knows?
  19. this is a symptom of all rechargeable batteries especially the lithium ion ones. you need to completely discharge it, by turning it on and letting it drain, then turning it on again and letting it drain, more and more until it will only sleep then let it completely die, then make absolutely sure you've given it a full charge, rinse and repeat. either that or hook it up to a proper discharger, i don't know where you'd get one for a laptop battery though. failing that you'll just have to get a new one bro
