I haven't been to London looking for records for years...not good... Last time I went there was the Soul and Dance Exchange just down the road from the Notting Hill underground which do second hand records, which was a great place. I found stuff like the Allies' EP there!
I think it might be just a normal noise with these tables. I've got the Citronic PD-45s which are a version of the ST150s, and they've always had that noise from new when pushing down on the platter. I've had mine for nearly 9 years now and fingers crossed they've been faultless.
OOOOOOOooooooo if anyone is able to post up rrrrap I would be very grateful... I downloaded it off youtube while it was up there a while ago, not sure if thats the full version tho...
I'll stick up for new school Q Bert, I'd say that he's done stuff which is technically awesome but has that funk as well. This is one, done 2008:
Also I saw him at the DMC worlds last year and his drumming routine at the end where he kept getting faster and faster was ace! Both Q and D are just amazing cutters, I've posted up my fave D clip somewhere else but here it is again:
Just lovely funk and flow. What has happened to D Styles btw? The last year he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Maybe dreaming up some C1 routines?
Cheers loads people Hopefully this'll teach me to listen to B-sides on records more - I have the tune already! Doh...well at least it lets me save more money for some new speakers, lol... Thanks again
Whilst trooping about on youtube I found some excellent vintage videos of the Xecutioners in action. Here's Roc Raida's set...
What I've gotta know is...what is the beat that is playing at the start of the video that the announcer is speaking over? That is one lovely tune... The other videos here for your perusal...
Cheers all
Cool, this is something I'd need to start looking into... Quick question tho, what d'you use to record with? Would, say, going from mixer master out into the headphone socket on my old portable tape player work? Cheers all
