  1. hey guys - just havin to put a skipless style scratch record together for use on serato - want to make samples skipless like superseal etc. does anyone know where i can find the timing data for this so i can plonk the samples in the right time frame in my DAW?! nice. respekt! pz
  2. did i mention fat city have made it their record of the week
  3. belows the link for fat city, our (no fakin) mix tape 'Give an Example' has finally reached the shops.... expect writeups to be around soon, but 66 minutes of mayhem, please support the cause, guaranteed to be loads of cuts in there you've not heard b4, we happen to think its a winner... check the audio clips too in the shop.... fatcity what fat city say.... Monster mash up mix across 4 decks from our good Scouse friends the No Fakin DJs aka Illson Fred and Friends & Family resident selector Kwinzola. This expertly sliced and diced mix features all three DJs cutting and scratching their way through a varied selection of treats from the world of Hip Hop funk soul disco reggae and much much more both classic and obscure. To say this is the perfect party mix is almost an understatement. These boys are well schooled in the party rocking game having run the exceptional No Fakin jam in Liverpool for many a year and DJ-ed across the country and all the biggest and best bashes. Manchester royalty MC Kwasi famed for his Friends & Family mic residency tags along for the ride providing a friendly voice for a very friendly mix. No track listing available however look out for appearances from the likes of The Team Jurassic 5 Slave etc.. etc… safe, pz - fred
  4. 6ixtoys we're an instrumental funk kinda get up posted a video up a lil while ago that people liked, this was recorded at a gig last week on a small mic by my monitor so the qualitys not the best but its good enuff..... megauploadpage if there's a better way of me posting mp3s let us kno, have a few more tracks.... pz!
  5. added a couple pics from our gig las friday at fabric to our myspace (slide plus picture section), and a snippet of audio - not the best qual, sat a little dictophone nex to my monitor but came out aight all things considered.... the lineup was us, steinski, qbert n later the pervs all in room 1 - i was a little worse for wear by the end - 3 hours sleep off a hectic schedule, but just about managed to explain to q exactly what countrpoint is, as you probably know the guys a sponge for musical knowledge - first thing he asked me? wat scratch techniques im working on lol, yeah, hi mate www.myspace.com/nofakin
  6. good luck! im studying myself at the mo. at a place called lipa, its paul mccartneys place in liverpool, they have a very good sound tech degree worth checking out after your diploma - the studios are amazing, studio 1's probably the best studio in the north east - designed by george martin no less, tis amazing... im doing music tho, not sound tech, we do get the option to take a more techy slant towards the degree which ive taken so its about 50 50 - next year my final year i have to produce an album - one of my own and one for someone else, and then a live show around your own material for the end of the year, n thats my degree, fun eh.
  7. hard one - from a production point of view? i think a track can be made or broken in the mixing stage, however, what makes a successful track? the simplest song in the world can be the most beautiful, probably the truthful answer in contemporary circles is justin timberlake. well not necessarily him, but its all about the marketing if you ask me, i guess if success is measured in unit sales its all about the amount of money the label put into the act, well nearly, there are some exceptions but you see what im getting at? a succesful track in who's eyes anyway?? the label, the artist, the engineer, the producer? fucking ambiguous question that, you could write all day!
  8. its preference, also they are better for different things, protools is way better for audio > it has the feel of working in some way with traditional tape, however it falls short with programming, also there's a big difference in tools systems, if you've got serious buck then ur ok coz a decent tdm rig will set you back tens of thousands, otherwise you're limited to protools le, which is very capable, just has limitations track count wise (upto 45 now i think with the extra producer pack) - the plugins on a tdm system are far higher quality, etc. there's probably not much point in me going to in depth here pros and cons of tdm vs le, Logic excels where tools falls short - midi and programming is way more advanced than tools however protools 7.2 has started to bridge a few gaps in this. i personally think logic has a great sound, the synths you get with logic pro are fecking ace too, also its native to apple so works a fuck of a lot better on yer mac! audio in logic isnt as good as it is in tools personally i program in logic and then mix in protools, i hate mixing in logic, but i guess thats just preference and not cold hard fact. cubase? well i know f all about that coz ive never used it tho i have a copy of sx3 sumwhere round ere. few commercial studios use cubase, most are tools and logic, the lucky tdm owners of tools can bridge logic into tools and run both programs at the same time - bastards! where you applying for????
  9. dope instrumental try n dig out the New Master Sounds version of witness, full dirty funk instrumental, amazing. im trying to find the accapella of witness if anyone here has it!?!

  12. there is, you're right - thank you
  13. lool, entertainging track that stop the cavalry, found a jona lewie doin it, guessin its the one youre talkin aboot - ta for that, dont have exactly what i was after but close enough. piece!
  14. thanks - if clownstyle had no luck i came across this http://www.amazon.com/Marching-Cadences-U-...s/dp/B000062X9O on amazon, nazis! not clean but usuable with a bit of work - pz!
  15. yo! im after a sample at the moment of like a group of squadies marching, dunno if any of you have seen yodas av set, he uses something like it but im not sure where it might be from, id rather not use yodas too! need to sync the sound of the marching footsteps with a trak im writing for a dance show for when the dancers are like marching into new positions - any help really appreciated!
  16. yo - i need to convert a dvd into quicktime to put it into logic to run in the sequencer, anyone ever converted dvd like this? do i need some special software or summnt? any experience appreciated!
  17. the bottom line! someone said earlier here about the waves L3 and vintage warmer, they'l have presets that will help if youre new to this, but yeah, if its important get someone else to do it who has a treated space, nothing worse than spending hours mixing to get it out of the room n find it a complete mess again... i find the L2 overcooks for my liking and prefer the c4 parametric compressor, but by the looks of it the warmer does that too - nice! can anyone point me in the direction of the vintage warmer, have been told good things about it and want to jump on it - havent got the coffers since shelling out on acoustic treatment - studio nearly finished
  18. and lyrics born too? pecking order there edan lyrics CC, anyway, we're all welcome to our opinion and the latter broke my mixer too so im not at all biased. really. edit, oh and edan introduces our mixtape comin out soon! (shameless plug over)
  19. you gotta be outa your fuckin mind! edan's the show there with dagha, aint nothin new in cc's izzle, likin the recording the crowd n cuttin it but edans out there in the most fucking crazy way imaginable, good lineup that but my money would be all on edan, jus silly wat he's rockin right now
  20. seen, im missing waves renaissance eq's and the c4 comp bigtime - im deffo feelin the advantage of the machine tho, its silly in comparison to what i used to be limited to and what im using now softsynth and sampler wise, only been on it a few days but
  21. interesting read that! im with him, i moved over to mac, have what they call the mac pro 2.66 quad xeon 64 bit workstation, only been working on it for a few days but yeah, loaded up 64 tracks in logic of space designer and exs24s and it didnt even flinch - my old pc could have barely taken 8 tracks like that and would certainly give me buffer underrun messages....
  22. hehe thanks man, the second tracks written in asymmetrical time, 5/8 and 7/8, so counting 1,2,3,1,2, for the 5, and the middle sections 1,2,3,1,2,1,2, which may or maynot mean nothing to you! the first ones going to be taken live with drums and violin over the top in future shows, but this is just the sketch of it...thanks for listening!
  23. yeah they came and played a nofakin bonus joint couple weekends back, best show of any genre id ever seen, no shit, straight up freshness, really inspirational, go and see if you get the chance!
