just thought i'd do the aahhh thing because it was my first time posting a file on here. Any comments on the cuts. the beat was just a ten minute job, just so i had something to cut over. cheers though, i'll make sure the drums kick more next time, mayb try and get my head around this compression thing...

ok, so this is the first time i've put some audio of me up here. Not super happy, but can't be arsed doing it over and over, so here's the first try. this was done on an MPC1000, my new very cool novation bassstation, and of course my decks. i think it peaks in a few places, as it was my first try using adobe audition too(first time recording myself really) let me know what you think guys. any comments or crappness welcome. the place to get the thing

had a go at mixing the other day after completely giving up on it for a year to focus on scratching so i could do rad shit for my band and work on my production. I think my mixing has actually improved since i stopped doing it! and when you think about it, it's not rocket science. One beat has to be the same speed as the other. I think mayb i was over thinking it before, or mayb scratching has just made me heaps more comfortable behind the decks. I don't know...

how do i save a wav file off a cd? every time i try and do this i end up with a .cda file which is nothing and only 1KB. I know there's a simple answer to this, but i don't know it. cheers, peace out

so, if i've got an oxygen8 midi controller, i could probably consider getting a rackmount synth. The only problem is i'd like to use it live, and feel like that's just one more thing i'd have to lug around.

any synth nerds here? I'm looking for a hardware (or good software) synth. Not interested in making lead lines, just really REALLY scary basslines to terrify neighbours and raise the dead. Using the Novation BassStation VST at the moment and loving it, but am thinking of getting hardware. Also, excuse my stupidity, but i was looking at the novation synth, and it came up with a whole lot of "rackmount" ones, with no keys. Shouldn't synths have keys? Peace out

If anyone does come by a nice 3,2,1 basketball sample, that would be sweet. At the moment i'm just using a 1,2,3 sample in reverse, but i'd like to get a sample of an excited kind of basketball crowd or commentator or something, instead of just generic counting. Peace out

Hey guys. going into the studio tomorrow with the band and we've got a song about basketball. Basically, I'm looking for a 3..2...1 buzzer type sample. Also I'm looking for some sound bites of guys actually playing basketball, like the sound of dribbling and shoes squeaking and the ball going through the net etcetra. The song kind of has a jurassic 5 type feel, with a break in the middle where the whole band goes "do do do DO, do do dooo, etc" Think concrete schoolyard. under the band do do doing hopefully i'll chuck the sound of dudes playing basketball. ok, i know i'm lame for using hotmail anyway, but for some reason it's doing something wierd. I write a message, and then send it. an instant before my screen changes to the sent screen, the text vanishes. Now, when someone recieves the lengthy email i just wrote, all they get is the topic line, and a line of text about how great lavalife is, or something about www.seek.com.au, or something equally as lame. My actual email message dissappears entirely. What's going on?

yo nimrod, here's a trick mostly used for getting accapellas off tracks. If you have the song with the vocal on it, and also the instrumental version, all you have to do is line up the two songs in two seperate tracks in something like audition, and then reverse the phase on the instrumental. phase cancellation will kill all sound except the vocal. of course, you could use this technique a little more trickily, if you can find a spot on the song where say, the rad bassline isn't for 16 bars, and then go to another part of the song where the rad bassline is. Line the two bits up, reverse phase on the no bassline one, and hey presto, you got your bassline. make sense?
