  1. Really like it man, the piano in particular sounds great. Don't wait 5 years til the next one!
  2. Thanks so much to everyone who has fed back so far, really appreciate you taking the time to listen! This forum is always so supportive, definitely my favourite place to post new music.
  3. Hi guys, I haven't produced a lot over the last few months but the sheer amount of spare time COVID has blessed me with had me dusting off my MPK. I put this track together and I think it's one of the best things I've made, would love to hear your feedback; https://youtu.be/oR3dGMVqMKI It's also on all the streaming services, you can find links here: https://songwhip.com/song/kaytoo/nectar Cheers!
  4. This is great, had a blast listening to it. No Lid Technic and Recycle the Emptys were particular highlights for me, NLT gave me some serious DJ Shadow vibes. Loving your work man.
  5. Gotcha is so funky, I love it. I really like the amount of detail in there, lots of subtle little things going on. Really impressive stuff. The T-800 one has a cool industrial kind of feel to it, reminds me of something you'd hear on the Czarface albums, or something by Cannibal Ox. Would sound great with vocals. Great stuff man.
  6. Really enjoyed this man, that Roots/Philaelphia blend was a particular highlight for me, so dope!
  7. Loved this, awesome job. Really creative and polished with loads of attention to detail. Keep doing your thing man.
  8. Thanks for the feedback guys, really appreciate you taking the time to listen. I do think the sound design needs some work - I don't have any monitors so I'm trying to mix it on headphones and it's not much fun! I'll see if I can improve it and will upload a new version at some point down the line.
  9. Hi all, I mainly stick to producing old school instrumental hip-hop but I'm trying to expand my horizons by making some good old fashioned trap. Here's a remix of Future's Poppin' Tags, would really appreciate your thoughts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WduE0LbqsYE Peace.
  10. This is a really good tape, great work bro. I especially enjoyed Got It and Patterns. What does your creative process look like?
  11. This is dope, nice work man. I wish I could DJ half as well as this!
  12. That's crazy, congratulations. Good luck with the finals, rooting for you!
  13. Yeah I used to love using it, you had to be really creative and think outside of the box but you could make stuff happen. All the other DAWs (Ableton being a great example) really pushed the boundaries on sampling though and Reason took years and years to catch up. Still intrigued by Ableton, I really should give it a go sometime soon. Kind of ashamed to admit it but I used LANDR for the mastering, it did a fairly decent job and I know nothing at all about mastering. I've tried learning but it just won't stick!
  14. Thanks Broma! More than happy to nerd out haha. There's a reason I decided to finally make an album after 7 or so years producing. The only DAW I've ever used is Reason, which used to be pretty rigid when it came to working with samples. You couldn't timestretch anything and you had to use a separate bit of software called Recycle to chop things up - that was only really effective for drums as well and didn't suit working with longer samples. You couldn't even import audio files, it was really basic. When I finally upgraded from Reason 4 to 7, it had a new timestretch feature which gave me a creative freedom that I didn't previously have so I decided to put it to use and attempted to make an instrumental album. The majority of Jaguar is composed of samples which are a mixture of things I've recorded from vinyl and bits I've found on the internet. I love mixing the two together; for example, Ceviche combines samples from an old jazz vinyl I bought in Kent with a Childish Gambino cover of Tamia's 'I'm So Into You' I found on YouTube. I like the thought that those things categorically do not belong together but it somehow works. I also wrote some new instrumentation on most of the tracks but it's all pretty basic and isn't that interesting. In terms of gear, it's pretty straightforward; Jaguar was made exclusively in Reason with an MPK Mini and some Beats By Dre headphones as monitors (not something I would recommend trying, made it a nightmare to mix down!). Apologies for the essay, hope that was of some interest. More than happy to answer any specific questions if anybody has any.
  15. Caloriez is so good, amazing work on that. Love how much it builds up, there's so many new layers and things, I really like the attention to detail. The Barry White snippet works brilliant as well, love the echo on the laugh at the end of it. Synth solo is fire as well! The switch at 3:30 is sick...so much good stuff going on in this track. Fireflies is nice as well, gives me proper Bonobo vibes. The xylophone and the electric piano are beautiful, love those subtle vocal samples as well. You're really talented, I'll be sure to check out more of your stuff.
