  1. Just listened to a few tracks, what a raw sound! Gonna listen to this on my way to work tomorrow, loving what I've heard so far
  2. Hey thanks for listening my dudes! @Steve Glad to hear that, it's all good. Understandable, the chops could be seen as a bit repetitive. I think that's the sort of track that would really shine with an MC. @Jhouse Hope you like the rest of the tape too!
  3. Hey what's up Digital Vertigo! Haven't posted here in a while, hope you're doing well. Got a new tape for you. I was planning on sending this to all my favourite DJ's and underground hip hop labels and I thought why not post it for people to hear. I'd like to say, this is not a finished project, this is just a few tracks to show range. All produced on the MPC 1000, SP-505 and sampled from vinyl records. Hope you like what you hear! https://soundcloud.com/okjoy/sets/okjoy-audition
  4. Hey what's up DV, Just wanted to share this vid with you. I'm trying to make trap music that boom bap dudes will like, with samples and basslines. I like a lot of newer stuff like lo fi and trap, but I wish I'd hear more basslines in that stuff, it's just samples and drums most of the time. https://youtu.be/170NhILIYlE
  5. Some very cool vibes and loops. My fav tracks are 100ps1 and the 2nd beat on EHHBB #7
  6. hey thanks for listening and for the comment, much appreciated! https://soundcloud.com/okjoy/through-the-storm damn I revised the track but it won't display properly
  7. What's up DV? Participated in the Vancouver Loopsession for the first time in a while. They chose a Jose Feliciano record, so I really had to dig deep to find some good loops on there. Ended up combining two guitar riffs, hope you like what you hear!
  8. dig that latest track cutdisco, I like the progression and vibe changes
  9. okjoy.bandcamp.com Here it is! Hope you enjoy hearing this
  10. Hmmm I like having a gritty hip hop kick in house, I think it fits the style I'm going for. Thanks for the feedback though. Here's another one, hope you guys like this track, it has more progression than the previous one I posted
  11. Cheers my dudes, thanks for the honest feedback. I would've liked to build this particular song up more but like I said, these are made from a hip hop perspective. Like just a main loop and a few layers on top. A few of the other songs have some more changes in there though, so I think you guys will enjoy hearing them. When I was sequencing this project, I had a really tough time trying to balance a dance audience vs a listening audience. The side of me that wanted to cater to DJ's said make every track longer for the dance floor. When I thought about listeners, especially listeners not used to loop based music, I always wanted to get right to the point and fade the song out. So I think in some ways, some of these tracks make more sense in a party setting. Just wanted to mention that most of these tracks are from a while back, my newer house tracks have a lot more going on. I want to start making different song structures, especially in this genre, would be great to be able to make more changes to keep things interesting.
  12. Hey what's up Digital Vertigo Forums? I announced this project a while back, but had a few setbacks waiting on it to be mixed. Happy to announce that my House project Make Your Body Sing will be ready on July 21st on Bandcamp and streaming websites. I would usually include one house beat on each tape of mine but I realized it would make more sense to just compile all those tracks into one project. I would describe it as House music produced with the quality and care of sample based Hip Hop. Especially excited for this particular forum to hear it because you guys always understand what I'm trying to communicate!
  13. whats up my man, i finally got a moment to listen to this. a lot of great textures and vibes in here and a lot of grimey drum loops. some great resources, in particular I really liked the organic bass loops. there's certain riffs here that you can't achieve from just sampling 1 bass note, if I'm able to fit these into some new production i'll let you know thanks for sharing this!
  14. very dope mix, dig the mid 80's boogie vibes!
  15. sounding dope dude! i dig the drums and the vibe
