  1. Is it though? Was it sold to the people who pre-ordered it as them buying a prototype? There's a big difference between a product being imperfect, and a prototype. If it was explicitly stated that people were paying for a prototype then fair enough, but if not, then I don't think it's fair to refer to it as such.I was referring to Catalyst Tracker with the prototype. With Phase, from what I know (but my knowledge is limited) is that people bought a pre-order and bacisally felt they were beta - testing it.
  2. Keep in mind it is still a prototype, and the fastest way to make it work was as an add-on, I never mentioned Bluetooth - albeit maybe could have been more clear on 'how' exactly it works. Be that as it may, I do intend to be very clear about the compromises or side notes that are involved. E.g. There is added latency, I know exactly which component adds how much latency, no reason to not mention that. And there is some other things as well. On the drifting note, I really hope phase can fix that (as it's a problem for many users) but realistically I don't think it's something they can control. It is my under standing that both serato and ni compensate for the drift by polling either the noisemap (serato) or the position info on traktor cv. As long as they do not synthesize that, or have the permission to do so, it's just the sinetone - which in itself cannot eliminate drift.
  3. You might find some old stock on ebay or sumthin' or in some rogue webshops. I have a pile of Vestax mixers but no extra unused caps :/
  4. Hey, it's me I actually have done quite some work for US based guys, but have always supplied the mixer myself (and never had them ask about power conversion) or sold e.g. kits (which would be USB powered). I haven't gotten a 110v powered unit to rebuild so far, hence the question.
  5. PDX 3000, controller one, numark cdx, hdx, pdx 2000 with midi mod, pdx 2000mkii with midi mod and sl1200 with midi mod are your options. If you're not too afraid to solder some things I'd recommend getting a 2nd hand pdx 2000 and doing the mod there. The downside I've seen (haven't used it myself s a bit of a disclaimer) of the 1200 midi mod is that the torque of the 1200 is not as great as the Vestax decks. This manifests itself in a noticeable slide from note to note. The Vestax decks have this too, but less so. With regards to the pedal topic, if it is digital pitch correction I agree in the extremes it becomes noticeable. However, I would just use Serato or Traktor for that purpose. And to counteract the 'artificial' side of it you could even use different samples at every midi note...
  6. I've seen a video at some point of some guys doing it. They used 2 big circular wood pieces to secure the vinyl in between, then proceeded to grind down the excess of the vinyl. Not sure if that's a 'milling machine' setup or not, but it seemed like a sure way to not fuck up your record. Also, Google turned up this http://seven-inches.uk/shop/ Maybe they can help you out with the ms pinky resizing?
  7. Should be possible, have you tried to map it?
  8. Hi! we have today launched MIDI Note Fader Pro mkII! Check the specs here: http://skratchamental.bigcartel.com/product/midi-note-fader-pro-mkii We added a bunch of features for easier usage (change MIDI channel, transpose etc.). Key thing is the DVS software x-fader option. If you have e.g. Traktor it enables you to use the x-fader to control the software's internal x-fader, or other controls. We improved our production process, we are now using lasercut tops for a slicker look. Let us know what you think!
  9. The loom is not correct for vestax 05 or 06, I have fitted it, works fine. Have the diagram at home somewhere, hit me up on fb and I can send it to you.
  10. argh, too bad you can get the 8mm caps from the pxf shop, but they are not so cheap
  11. The PXF stem is 8mm, these knobs are 4-6 mm only...
  12. I've never used VDJ but if it can be done there too, that's great
  13. Hey all, like the title says; no MIDI turntable? No problem! Compatible with Traktor Scratch and Serato DJ 1.9 and up with Pitch n Time extension. cheers, Bob
  14. This is correct, and I've dubbed it MNF because I have no connection to FF whatsoever. Of course the idea is exactly the same, vertical motion sending midi notes to control pitch - and I have never claimed I came up with the idea. Having said that, anyone who wanted to do the mod I have helped out and have also publicly shared the software that I have coded: Rasp Haunt, Jean Paul Calderon, afaik is a manipulating douchebag. He asked me to build him a MNF about a year ago, claiming he had all kinds of illnesses, couldn't do it himself, but loved scratching so much...
  15. In practice you would want to have more than just a C-note on your record as well, that's why I use traktor remix decks for my tones, have a whole octave for each sound. E.g. if a track is in C-major that is easily done with the C record, but if your track is on G#-minor it becomes more complicated to do with C-note. Maybe musical geniuses don't think of it in that way, but at least for me it helps to match up the right sounds, scales and backing tracks.
