Hey guys! Been a minute since I posted here but thought this would be the best place. I recently bought my 3rd HandyTrax, this one a USB version and it seems that the power supplies that I am using for my other 2 won't work for this new one. They are simple 12vDC wall adapters. I was diagnosing the new turntable and noticed that direct power using this adapter to the motor turned the motor, then I connected directly onto where the batteries would connect and it worked. I am getting 12v dc on the other side of the jack so I know it's not a bad jack. 1. Am I just using the wrong adapter? It does say 12v AC on ALL 3 of my handytrax' but my DC adapters work on the other 2. Can anyone confirm they official Handy Trax power supplies are AC? 2. I know it's a super simple circuit, all the traces look good, all solder joints look fine, no burnt components etc. Is there something obvious that I could try and replace like a resistor/cap/diode? 3. Even more confusing, some pictures of HandyTrax power supplies on google show that they are Ring Positive / Tip Negative. I will test this in a little bit by switching polarity. Edit: Tested polarity, nothing. Now almost certain it needs an AC p/s. I find it odd that the older models will work with a DC power supply but the new one doesn't. I tested with my 07 AC power supply, still same results. So now my guess again is a bad component on that board. Power switch works etc. Any known problems with that transistor? Thanks in advance for your help.

Absolutely love mine. What a nice product, the packaging, everything really top notch. I was and maybe still plan on doing some internal mods but having a really nice separate fader will come in handy. I skipped on the passive faders, glad I did. It feels just as nice as an innofader mini in a mixer (well, obviously it should). I love being able to cut out the beat, I do that a lot regularly. People asking about the charging. I haven't used it to the point it needs recharging, but I modded my HandyTrax to have an internal rechargeable battery that I can also use to charge the fader. Pretty slick. Sorry Rast, I don't want to open mine up yet, but when I do I will get your some nice pictures. I am also curious what is going on in there.

Is there still a list for these? Been wanting once since May and one of the first to request one after they sold out the first time. Hit me up!

I can't wait. Thing is, it sucks that I pre-ordered and I am seeing them in retails stores before I even got mine. =(

None. I use butter rugs. The plastic can make extra static and actually create more friction/inconsistency. BTW if you are getting too much static even with your butter rugs etc., grab a dryer sheet and rub it on the platter and backside of the slipmat. It will slow down static electricity build up.

Very strange statement. Even more strange that it is a sponsored link.... he PAID for people to see that post. I like Elliot and what he has done for the tablism/skratch scene, but in honesty he needs some competition to keep him humble. It's a fucking DJ mixer. They are all the same or have stolen from other ideas/designs. People buy products because of things like where the company is based, the price points, color, feel.. not just the end product or if the company innovates or not. Tell you the truth, DJ Tech is one of the least innovative DJ gear company I have seen and their products are very low quality. Maybe Elliot had a no-compete clause in his contract with DJ Tech and he fucked up by supplying Mixars and this is how is avoiding a lawsuit? So strange! *DRAMA*

nops - that's a pretty standard hard plastic enclosure. I'd love to see some metal casings though <3 So what exact color is the engraved part? It looks silver in a lot of pictures/videos.

I think a few people got them as promotion. I pre-ordered mine because it is clearly a metal case in the videos/pictures. The engraving looks great with the metal exposed. Hope they ship soon!

There was no news about an innofader version so I went ahead and ordered a Jesse Dean. I don't have the others to compare, but I am a fader snob so I should be able to give a pretty good review when I get it.

I didn't have a problem with skipping on the PLX. The tonearms are basically identical designs and the platter was as tight as a new 12.

I do not own one, but had a few hours with one. Comparing it to the Technics, I think it is the nicest replacement/clone that you can buy new with a warranty. Technically I didn't find it better than the 1200's. It felt very close and personally I think it is a fantastic looking turntable. I only used the PLX for about 2 hours but during that time I found a problem. When at -50%, it had some intermittent motor pulsing and for skratching, this is unacceptable and to me, a red flag to the quality and design thought put into that turntable. At this point and from my experience, if you are looking for the quality and feel of a Technics 1200, get a used Technics 1200. They are tanks and plenty of parts are available if you need to repair it. The Pioneers have not yet been proven to be a suitable replacement and it doesn't like they are going to be. If you really need the ultra pitch AND the feel of a 1200, grab a used mk2/mk5/m3d and invest in the new ultra pitch mods that are out (kabusa.com and soon Backtrack).

Hey man. Probably the best approach would be to use the innofader pro2. It can run from a wide voltage range, you can set the curve really sharp, and it has schmitt triggering and decay to eliminate any pops and clicks. You could use a standard fader with your own circuit but it'd be nontrivial. You're looking at building a schmitt trigger (like my nanofader circuit has) and then lowpass filtering the signal output with a capacitor to add decay. Alright, thanks for your help! So glad I came back to this site, forgot about it. I have your MIDI mod for my PDX2000mk2 Pro's and would love this. Actually working on a custom M5G at the moment, I am guessing this mod won't work on the nicer M5G's and I don't dare mod my GLD's. Looks like I have a good excuse to buy another MK2!! I am currently working on turning one of my PDX's into a left handed Controller One! Finally! A left handed controller one and might offer a kit to people with 3000's or your modded 2000's. Any news on when this will be availalbe? Also as a kit? I like doing DIY stuff.

Love this! I am looking for a basic fader to act as a basic sharp envelope/VCA to run a 5 volt signal through for my eurorack. Anyone have ideas? Something small like the Raiden/InnoMINI would be ideal but not sure if they would work. The 5 volt signal won't be audible but I have a feeling I need a smooth but short cut to avoid that signal popping and giving me artifacts. I have a couple spare focus fader V2 and pro x fades I can use to modify and I am skilled in modifying things if anyone has some ideas. Thanks in advance!

Probably going to have something like 100 DJ's enter next year = need to have more rounds. It was difficult for me to genuinely give a top 8 with that many entries this year, spreading the first "round" over time should make it easier. I like the online DMC how they spread it over a few weeks, that will also increase traffic and opportunity to post on social media often. Just have everyone enter VIA email, then they get put into a pool, then groups of DJ's are selected at random and are notified which First Round week they will be entering. Or you could have the contestants vote for their top 1/2, eliminating half the first round, then do a second round to find top 16/8 etc. I think the 80% technical thing should be dropped, just vote for BEST or FAVORITE as flow and creativity are also very technical aspects. The VS round should be 3 minutes to push DJ's harder, a winner of the 2 should be pretty obvious, if not, rematch with a different beat. Entry could be $5-$10. That will stop non serious people from entering, also will be a nice cash prize or other prize for the winner(s). Your $5-$10 will be going to the winner, I think that is pretty cool and deserving.
