  1. this is making me pretty scared about buying that ttx (as mentioned on skratchlounge).. bahhh
  2. is it on cesca's 7inch? i bought it but never played it. hah
  3. i had a pair of str8-100's when i first started. i cant believe that they didnt move the power switch as it was among the complaints most vocalized @ the old stanton forum. it gets pretty annoying after a while. especially if you play out often with flightcases/a coffin. but it sounds like you got a good deal (how does that convert to us $ exactly?). the str8-100's were good table IMO, i can only imagine the 150's.
  4. power vs. style.. what it always comes down to in scratch forums
  5. ive done this gig probably about two times before.. its a gig at the makeup department in a department store. theyre having some make up expo (its supposed to be a big deal hence why they hired a dj). ive been building a playlist for it for the last couple of days but i can always use some more tunes just to be thorough. ill be playing for something like 7 hours. right now ive got most of the top 40 stuff from now stretching back to 2 years ago. ive also got a (serato) crate of christmas songs, r & b, rock, 80's (only a couple songs), michael jackson (yes, a full crate), some hyphy tracks, some pop stuff, a couple reggae tunes, some old funk breaks.. and im currently in the process of sorting out some downtempo stuff i can play. its a delicate balance to play over there because theres some young people that work the counters that want to here current stuff and theres also people over 50 that dont. plus the x factor (the customers) will all have different tastes. i have all clean versions of all the stuff i have so far. if there are any songs that you guys can think of that would be appropriate please list them. im thinking of spinning alot of downtempo and triphop stuff, i just dont have much of that right now. hah. any suggestions?
  6. the 10" case come with little foam inserts so you cam make the 56 fit snug..
  7. for the type of djing i do, vinyl is a must. you will get no respect here if you use serato but havent established yourself with vinyl first. but if i were a club dj or partyrocker, serato would be the only way to go. for my application, i use serato at home for practice, occassional mixtapes and other studio work. when i get random store/wedding gigs, ill bring serato out but as long as im playing music i like, im playing it off of vinyl.
  8. i prefer the older version of adobe audition. uses lower resources and is more simple in my opinion (less of a pro-toolsesque interface).
  9. whatever is more comfortable for you man. i do them with my hand more horizontal. if i speed them up or work them into a combo my hand starts going more vertical
  10. got bored.. http://download.yousendit.com/0FBF243C32087C2D
  11. its weird but i like doing it manually. it give me a chance to really listen to all my records. ive got a sp303 with tap tempo but its only as accurate as the operator is. counting is fine, i dont have many records.
  12. you got that moloko track on vinyl? i love that song.
  13. nice.. i would post mine in this thread, but i dont have much.
  14. haha. yeah, i realized that after i did that one. thanks for the tips.
  15. thanks for the input guys. heres what im doing so far: (yes, i have polo bears on my bedsheets.. haha) i started with putting a piece of masking tape across the top no matter if it was a picture sleeve or a blank. now im thinking if its a picutre sleeve ill just do it on the corner (like the one on the bottom) and if its a blank sleeve ill do a title across the top. anyway, im glad i dont have many records, otherwise id never want to start. what i have left to go:
  16. anyone have their collection bpm'd? ive been djing for about 4 years now and havent bpm'd my records. i remember when i started i looked down upon it because i felt like i was cheating myself of how to beatmatch by ear and didnt look back. now that i know how to beatmatch, ive been thinking about it. recently, a veteran local dj was telling me some of his tricks and he told me that he bpm'd every record (and all tracks on each record just incase he wanted to throw in a b-side track on a lp). it got me thinking that it might be helpful for me because sometimes i think i know the approximate tempo to a song and when i que it up on my headphones, i figure that it wont work and have to scramble for another record. it hasnt become that much of a problem right now cause my record collection is relatively small but i imagine im not gonna remember approx tempos to songs when my collection gets bigger. i think itll help me pack a crate more effectively and thus help with quick mixing. i bought some masking tape, sharpies and a stop watch.. and im just sitting here considering if i really want to do this. i think it can potentially help me immensely, i just cant get over one problem: i dont want to deface my sleeves with masking tape on the top of each (a la z-trip). i shouldnt really care i guess cause im not a collector, im a dj.. but it still makes me think twice. one good thing i can see coming from it is that it can help me organize my records cause alot of my records are in blank sleeves and i always end up putting things in the wrong place. im just typing up my thoughts. sorry for the length. any thoughts?
  17. jel + sixtoo = dope. even controller 7 actually
  18. word.. turntablelab has the same stuff that i can buy locally for the most part (except im probably gonna pick up the machine drum from there). about that french site.. do they ship to the US?
  19. so i got the usb hooked up. is there a way i can transfer loops and have to saved to the banks correctly? ive been trying to drag some over and they look like they are setup correctly then i press play the play pedal and it records instead of plays (as if there was nothing saved on the loop).
  20. i always see the same records here in the US. id like to pick up some from overseas. i just bought lamont's record, about to purchase 2tall's.. any other suggestions? where can i find dialogue and random vol 2? how about records from noisy stylus or the lords of fitness? just got my jamman and would like some new sounds to mess with. thanks thanks
  21. real dope beat lorn. keep us updated on the album.
