  1. Don't be forgetting the ion portable. Exactly the same as the Numark and usually cheaper.
  2. Yeah my electronics knowledge is pretty thin so I'll probably have to wait for your board although I can follow instructions and wield a soldering iron.
  3. fitted a M44-7 to my Portable, check out the thread here http://www.digitalvertigo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=38427&hl=
  4. I follow a guy on Instagram who I noticed was using Shure M44-7 cartridges on his Numark PT-01's (He actually has two and plays out on them! check out his feed 'deejaystathis'on IG ) I messaged him for some info and he sent some pics. He basically cut off the front cartridge retaining clip and used electrical tape to stick the M44-7 cart on. I wanted to do the same but wanted it to be something reversible. I had a spare cartridge laying around that had actually come away from its mounting years ago and I had glued it back on so knew it was possible to separate the 2 parts Check out my Imgur gallery for my pictures of how I did it. http://imgur.com/a/OccC3 Results are ok, the output is much lower than the original cartridge but tracking is much better and the benefit of being able to see the stylus tip is better for needle dropping Props to DJ Stathis (deejaystathis on IG) from Greece for the inspiration for this mod
  5. may be poorly constructed but still seem to last well. I bought mine second hand and it looked, and smelt like it had been used as an ashtray. The faders were all gunged up good with whisky and coke by the look of it but still worked fine and does still today
  6. More mk1s available as of today. ltd edition black and grey http://www.raidenfader.com/product/preorder-raiden-fader-vvt-mk1-black-grey-limited-monotone-edition
  7. Just bought an Ion Portable for pocket money and laughing at myself for joining the 'portable' craze because I can almost guarantee once it arrives it'll never leave my studio. But I'm into the fader box mods. Put me down for one Rasteri please
  8. Have you tried baby wipes? It's amazing what crap they can clean
  9. Still use my SA-8 as my master studio mixer. Really miss some of the features from it now when using my 56 such as auto cue, independent outs and push buttons for the fx loop rather than toggle switches. Just a shame it was never sharp enough on the cut.
  10. Not strictly true. I have one on long term loan from a friend who is more of a 2 min blend kind of DJ and didn't use it. I have it on Traktor and yes it doesn't have all the functionality it would on Serato (or even on the mapping description from the Pioneer website) it still does the job better than anything else I looked at i.e. 16 pads, FX knobs and browser controls. I've changed some of the FX macros to suit my style and am slowly mapping some of the unused controls to my needs.
  11. Yeah your not going to discover any new music watching the Red Bull battles thats for sure. I do quite enjoy some of the sets with interesting transitions but Its gone a bit the way of DMC online whereby a Youtube search brings up hundreds of videos of lower standard people who probably wouldnt enter a live battle. 15mins is definitely too long for some! I just want to see/hear the top few after the judges picks
  12. some suggestions here http://www.digitalvertigo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=37786&hl=
  13. Plenty of package forwarding companies around. You order and ship to the company and they then forward it on. For a cost obviously, but if you have a few things you want to buy from overseas they can consolidate your orders into one shipment thereby saving money. No not the Sure copies but I've had cheap copies of stanton 500 before and the actual styli eventually broke of them all in a very short length of time.
  14. what gets me is that soundcloud and the likes are full of cover versions which is basically ripping off a whole song (also able to bypass soundclouds audio scanning tools if they sound slightly different from the original) and yet I from what I understand if the artists were to apply for clearance it would probably cost less than to license a small sample. Just ask Dr.Dre
  15. back in stock by the looks of it http://www.amazon.com/Shure-N44GQ-Replacement-Needle-4-Pack/dp/B0002E2Z7K/ref=redir_mobile_desktop/189-9353221-0345236?ie=UTF8&amp%3Bkeywords=n447q&amp%3Bpi=SL75&amp%3Bsr=8-1&qid=1429953888&ref_=mp_s_a_1_1
  16. er, no I wont. I was a bit late to the shop and the one copy had gone. Got the Jay-z/ghostface 45 and cypress hill 45 which was an import from the US RSD list I think.
  17. he's the sound guy, surely rather than grab the mic off him he could've just turned it down?
  18. And there's these, Not got any yet but they are on my list http://www.discogs.com/DJ-JS-1-Scratch-Roulette-45/release/5113657 http://www.discogs.com/DJ-Focus-2-PhonosycographDisk-Precision-Scratch-Training-2/release/1276283 http://www.discogs.com/Fishguhlish-Audio-Obstacle-Course-Volume-1/release/6360211 http://www.discogs.com/Scrappy-Off-The-Lead/release/354916(10")
  19. http://www.thudrumble.com/product/short-rugs.html check this out. Also get a pair of 7" butter rugs. However thudrumble need to sort out their non US postage costs.
  20. Anyone seen anything interesting for Record Store Day this year? I'll be copping the Monty Python ft Stephen Hawkings 45 but not looked too closely yet as trawling through an alphabetical list of releases equals no fun.
  21. I'm not sure there's any good way to do it (feel free to correct me on this chaps) The trouble with rockwells' method is that every track has a different length of silence or indeed useless intro to play through before reaching your desired first down beat so yeah the track will start playing at your stickered 12 o'clock position each time but it wont necessarily be the first beat of the track. I think the best solution is as you say hold the record In the desired position (I.e. 12 o'clock, towards the stylus whatever) and load your desired track. But change your desired first beat cue point marker to a yellow load marker. You can speed up track changes when playing from a playlist by mapping a shortcut on your keyboard or controller to load next track in playlist
