  1. That just seems counterintuitive. My pseudoscience: 1. The further your finger is from your thumb, the further it has to travel. 2. The further a finger has to travel, the more force it requires to keep the same click interval. 3. The ring finger is further than the middle. The middle is further than the index. Example: If you had a bounce a basketball 4 times quickly - you would tend towards bouncing a shorter distance than the previous bounce rather than towards a longer distance each successive bounce. - I crab in a weird way too. 3 finger crab + twiddle to get 5 sounds. Ring, Middle, Index, Middle, Index.
  2. In 8th grade, I had a friend named Fuzzy who could absolutely shred on guitar. He could play the intro to "Hot for Teacher" and it was amazing. I had a drumset at the time and could drum it at about 3/4 the tempo. Long story short, we entered the talent show that year (our school was 6-12th grade) and when we showed up at rehearsals we had never considered that they wouldn't let us play that song. They shut us down right away. So we ended up playing Green Day - Brainstew instead. This was in 1999 I believe. We joke about it now, but how cool would it have been if we had said fuck it, and played it. Our parents were in the auditorium and it's their music, so we knew they would like it. Plus our English teacher was smoking hot and she knew we all had the hots for her. But yea, Van Halen has a special place in my heart and I love that song. EDIT: I should have given this more context. I grew up in Pasadena, California. Eddie and Alex went to Pasadena High School. David Lee Roth went to Muir (down the street). You know how notable alumni always have their pictures plastered everywhere on campus? At Pasadena City College, there are a few notable alumni. Van Halen is one of them. The most popular one is Jackie Robinson. There's a bunch of murals in the city now.
  3. That's awesome diggla. I wish I had the space to build something.
  4. Hey guys - the game is called Mordhau, which is a super difficult Medieval sword fighting game. It's probably the most fun game I've ever been bad at. You can record demos of your gameplay and replay them later and record with whatever screen capture software you like. The unique thing about Mordhau is the the attention to detail. You can customize the facial expressions of your player (opposed to just their clothing and gear). You can also run custom maps and private servers (so there is no limit to where/when I want to shoot). I might have 6 versions of the same character with slightly different facial expressions for doing scenes with shot / reverse shot. I simply shoot the same scene again with a different version of the character. The game has a "cinema camera" in the replay mode that lets you change camera things like aperture and focus to make it look more cinematic. Normally, first person games try to put everything in focus instead of selecting a subject. It was originally going to be a 30 minute movie but I realized after I shot everything that I didn't develop enough of a story, so I'm going at it one episode at a time.
  5. https://youtu.be/oy_St7Vn-9I Spent my Coronavirus time quitting drinking and thus finishing episode 1 of a cinematic that I started almost a year earlier. I put a lot more effort into writing and storytelling this time. Ended up re-shooting a lot of things (instead of just trying to get it done) but I think it was worth it. This cinematic was inspired by some drama/thrillers I watched this year (Parasite, Dark, Get Out). Hope you guys like it!
  6. I heard the PS5 is finally getting SSD's. It only took a decade. The whole redesign looks like labia. I know what I won't be buying! - PC MASTER RACE
  7. I vote for rack-mount once you get above 4 channels. Having a lot of audio gear gets annoying once you have multiple things laid out on a flat table.
  8. I asked the same question a while back, I think Dopez was bulk ordering those $5 needles and just picking out the ones that worked well.
  9. If you guys like Monopoly as much as me, I recommend Monopoly Deal. It has all the elements of the board game, but the games typically end in less than 30 mins.
  10. Yeah man, I'm a big weenie. I love/hate games like that. Trying to play Bioshock for the first time and it's freaking me out. Stopped after the first hour and not gotten the nerve to pick it back up. If you want a truly scary game that doesn't involve guns, horror, or the un-dead, try SUBNAUTICA. It's hard to express how beautiful this game is while being organically terrifying at the same time. I never knew I had fear such a fear of deep water.
  11. Reaction time and twitch speed. I think R/T is genetic, but twitch is muscle memory. It peaks at like age 27. Don't believe me? Go back and look at all your old scratch videos and ask yourself how you did all those things. @Deft - I also play against COD with my 13yr old nephew. He's on PS4 and I'm on my NASA supercomputer. I have to try super hard to even stay even with his ratios. I get texted: "Git Gud Uncle Scott".
  12. I pay for Spotify premium and I think it's worth it. It integrates pretty well into Android Auto for my car rides. I'm a fan of other peoples' curated playlists as well. The offline player is nice when I'm going for a mountain drive. Not dealing with files is actually nice. I used Pandora for years (2004ish) before Spotify existed. I still think Pandora's algo is slightly better than Spotify's. The trick I used to get the ball rolling with Spotify - There is a chrome extension that copies all of your Pandora liked songs into a list and imports them into Spotify. That helps out a lot.
  13. I see. That's an issue I was thinking about too. I wanted it directly above my PC monitor, but yea 55 inches an arm's length away might not be the greatest.
  14. I'm considering one in hopes to accomplish many things (netflix, gaming, color grading). I currently do not own a TV, just an ultrawide monitor. I'm wondering if it would be an unwise decision. The model is the LG C9 55".
  15. I see. So I could insert the processor directly into a single channel (pre), or I use my mixer's send/return for multiple channels (like an EFX-500)? The way I have it setup right now is to use my aux bus to send only my MIC and SOUNDBOARD to the Scarlett. I feed the Scarlett output into Line/7/8 so I can mix PC and MIC sound in the headphones. Control room outs to speakers. My PC then records MIC and PC sound separately. I prefer using the dbx286s pre-amp and keeping the Mackie at unity gain, but I've never actually tried it another way. I noticed the Mackie did color the sound a bit compared to when I was just running the dbx286s so maybe that's why I held off. I have an insert cable sitting in a box at home.
  16. I typically run a mic (PR-40) to processor (dbx-286s) to mixer (802-VLZ4) to interface (Scarlett 2i4) when it comes to recording. Is there better way to do this? I use the aux out bus on the mixer to control what is sent to record, versus what is sent to cueing (listening). Am I losing somewhere by not using an insert function somewhere? Both my mixer and process have this baked in. My goal has always been to avoid using my CPU for processing, which is why I have this hardware behind the mic.
  17. I've been following this story for a long time. I love this type of journalism.
  18. That component looks like an inductor (coiled wire). Agree with TBear. Get a light and magnifying glass and look for writing on the top or bottom of it. It might say (#R#) with some extra lettering. I like to search it on octopart.com. It compares all the big electronics companies (digi, mouser, arrow, etc) That size is big enough that it can be hand soldered.
  19. Finally got it done. I'm actually a little sad now that I'm finished with it. I tried something different with the ending to give it some "story" by adding a bit of fiction. This is also the first video I've made that actually combines gaming and real footage in some sort of useful way. https://youtu.be/tAiqT7TTIXk
  20. Yea...I skimp on lots of things in life, but I indulge on PC hardware. Glorious PC and Ultrawide Master Race!
  21. Well, maxed out the weights and left them on and in the groove overnight for three nights. There is a bit of an improvement but not much. I've been online to see what I'm doing wrong with the set up but cant seem to find out what the issue is. The pair I have just seem to skip a lot because of the excess lateral movement. Anyone able to recommend good alternatives? What's the update on your carts? Are you cutting on a set of old 1200's?
  22. Disclaimer: Not trying to pump my channel (the video is unlisted). Just figured that anyone who plays this game on DV might get a kick. These are PubG bits of me and 2 of my co-workers (over 2+ years or so). I just picked out the funny moments since neither of us are pros at it. I have terabytes upon terabytes of footage and I couldn't let it go to waste. As usual, the best parts are always the silly things, and these 2 have since moved on to different careers - but this is some of the most memorable stuff and one of the fun parts in my life. If you haven't played this game through its growth/glitches, it might be hard to relate. It's a fun game in all respects on all types of systems. Parts 2 and 3 coming out soon. https://youtu.be/Qod830C0pvY
  23. Don't sell it dude. There will be no other analog mixers made like it ever again, especially that size. If you can find an eternal fader - that thing will shit on every other mixer out there.
