  1. Thanks man. Some stuff was arranged in an offbeat way on purpose, and other stuff is down to me arranging it badly I suspect. When I scratch I often start and end in offbeat places, which I kinda really like but mostly just pisses people off. Thanks for the feedback man, I'll put some extra awareness on what you've pointed out on the next one.
  2. I spent about a week putting this together. All sampled, arranged, scratched, composed, effected by me. I'm trying to add new ways of doing stuff as I'm continuing to do this so I can explore what does and doesn't work for me. It was really great scratching with a melodies I wrote, gonna be doing lots more of that. Looking forward to getting into the land of machines to see what that does for me when I'm feeling flush enough to go that route. I definitely overused similar delay tactics on this one, gonna try and switch up ways of using effects on future plays. Big thank you to all who send positive vibes and feedback, positive, or negative my way, much appreciated!
  3. You can use the Live Input to apply effects to vinyl. That's one of the more obvious, but great features of a Z2/Traktor set up for me.
  4. I spent a few hours today putting this together. Everything was sampled by turntable, then arranged in Garage Band. Was about equally fun and not fun putting it together. Learnt myself a few new small tricks, and am starting to get more comfortable with playing around. Any feedback, tips, or glaring silliness that you manage to pick up on, lemme know, I'd appreciate it.
  5. Whap. My vote goes to Rockwell. Your track gave me the most head nod. I was also really appreciating the cuts, that's always a great way to win me over. Props to all for entering, huge range of flavours, and something to enjoy and learn from each track.
  6. Bam!!! Thanks to all for the good vibes on it.
  7. So good. Man, I've been nodding my head so much to your shit.
  8. I strung together a few things I've been having a play with and came up with this. I hope to clean it up/expand on it.
  9. Bam! Props to Rockwell for making this happen. I here give you my first arranged track ever!!!! I fiddled the whole thing up in GB and learnt me lots of great shit while doing it. I think it's safe to say I'm gonna be fucking hooked on the Beat Battle challenge.
  10. The adventure continues......
  11. I've been using traktor to grab live loops and to try and make short vibey tracks. Here's one I whipped up last night.
  12. Thanks Si. I'll check it out. Yeah, bass is going straight into a line, I then lower the Low EQ for that channel to try and have it come in slightly less "heavy", but you can hear it's grimey as all hell. I'll start looking into a small pre-amp box.
  13. Hey guys, I keep an online scratch journal and try and drop a video in once a month. Here's the latest one I put in yesterday. I'm using a usb foot pedal to trigger the loop recorder in Traktor, and have remapped a few of the functions for effects and looping to the mixer as well. The other loops are coming from the mini Kaossilator. If you guys have any feedback on parts you think could see improvement, or ways you'd do things different, I'd love to hear them as I know this place is full of killers when it comes to heavy head nod. I'm also trying to find good/better ways of recording my audio, without getting into the land of playing about for hours trying to do it. I currently us a sony HDR-AS15 mini action cam to record. It has a direct line in, so I like that. All the gear I use (Bass + Kaoss pad) run straight to my mixer. I've started reading about noise reduction when recording, but would love to know what anybody has to say that could improve the quality. The bass comes in pretty heavy as well, I'm also looking for a way to clean up the audio on that. I've been enjoying popping my head in and seeing/hearing whose been doing what music-wise, looking forward to hearing what anybody might have to say.
  14. Ya man. I gotta try an tighten all that up. I love to sit while I cut, and have developed a few bad habits due to the particular desk and chair I have at my crib. It's a much more comfortable set up I have in Canada in regards to table vs. chair height. Thanks Adam, good stuff.
  15. After scouring the web for other geeky dark corners to talk to humans about scratching, turns out this is the darkest and geekiest. Here's a video I stuck in my online scratch journal 2 weeks ago. I'm always looking for feedback on how to tighten and freshen my shit up as that's what I'm always going for. http://youtu.be/v_9PmJHiQL0?list=UUr4q8FLZ-0Z_VNP4ocl0FSg
  16. I've got a sony HDR-AS15 it's got a direct in, and the mic on it is pretty good. A small tripod would be perfect. I'll dropbox you all footage and you can take out what you want.
  17. Anyone have a tripod big or small they wanna let me use for the upcoming SSS?, i'll dropbox you any footage i take. Which Pricks are meeting me at the train station to ride on down?
  18. I'll meet you at the Train Station if ya wanna ride in and catch up Yoshi, anywhere, anytime, you pick.
  19. I'll get excited when you can double time 380 bpm scratches...... 100 bpm, that's only in superman territory. You really need to start pushing yourself Chile. 380bpm double timed, you can do it.
  20. Wilbo from Montreal. Absolutely shreds it.
  21. Put my face up on that Bitch Jimmy! I know i fucked you on the last one, but i was delivering a baby to be fair. If you put my face on that badboy, and i don't make it, i will live stream me eating Erick's underpants. It's also gonna be the last one of this year for me as i am off to Canada for 6 months right after.
  22. Awesome. I much prefer the Rye local. It is a fortress of Dopeness.
  23. I hope to make it to the next one, i fly back to Canada for 6 months on June 25th so i gotta make sure to hit this one up.
