  1. thanks for the feedback guys! i havn't had a chance to upload a proper (non-virtual-deck) practice vid over my own loops, I moved house recently and everything is still on the floor.
  2. i remember hearing or reading somewhere that DJ Q-bert suggested scratching rhythms in the same way MC's would rap... as in, try to emulate the rhythms of MC's, but in scratching. It can help to get some good ideas for transform rhythms. correct me please if im wrong, more knowledgeable scratch heads.
  3. definitely. I learnt to crab pretty early into my scratch development, and as a consequence didn't spend much time on chirps, flares or transforms to get them nice, so everything i do is fairly sloppy. if i was god i'd have banned crabs and customs. i did the same. i still havn't got tears cleanly to this day because all i used to practice were crabs when i first started. i got them down within the first year but realised it was just messy and sounding like i was trying too hard to sound fast, because crabs were the only thing i was doing. i then used my newfound hatred of crabs to perfect my orbit/flares.. and now i barely crab/twiddle at all.
  4. would you consider this funky? my cuts

  12. I've set up my MPD24 to control traktor, it works pretty well with just an Audio8 and a Macbook as a compact setup.
  13. i've started practicing scratching again recently, and i am finding that the method above works really well. increment upwards slightly and then practice for a few minutes on the slightly higher bpm.. then spend another few minutes back down at the original bpm.. rinse and repeat, and start on a higher bpm a couple of hours later, or the next day. hope this helps!
