my more developed projects are a combo of samples and vst's with hella fx, so pushing the limits of a computer is perfectly possible. Processing like timestretching is also faster I find. When I'm up and running it will be interesting to see what this new one can do. so 8k porn?

I'm not really super techy so I'll spare all the details, but here's the backstory... 3 years ago I built a high spec pc for £1300. x79 champion mobo, 3930K processor (3.2 six core), 32gb DDR3 (1333) with an ssd. It was pretty rapid and used for Cubase, although I must admit that I haven't been heavily involved in music production enough to push the limits of the computer. Last month I ordered a built-to-spec pc for £1300. 7700K processor (i7 4.2 Overclocked to 4.8), 32 gb DDR4 (2400) with a 256gb NVMe M.2. I've got to say that on first impressions.... It's isn't noticeably faster!

06 owner here and all round fuss pot/tight ass. I've never had to replace the fader, but as mine was an early model, I did eventually exchange it for a newer type and then only ever cleaned and modded. Upgrading to an innofader gave me a no maintenance, super sharp/light fader with adjustable cut in. the pro 2 is even better. I've wired in my own headphones cue, baring in mind I'm not technical, it still works today! They aren't the best sounding mixers, but IQ seems to do okay on his p.s I brought mine in 1999. Upgrade if you got the money and want to, but I guess I'm saying it's not necessary.

Symatic has hit the nail on the head I think in regards to open vs closed. pinching is done when the 2 click flare is started from the open position (in regular at least) and tapping works when doing any 2 click variation from a closed fader position. if someone is trying to pinch from the closed position, they are probably gonna fail.
