  10. Fuck DJ's, turntablism, and Hip Hop.
  11. Call of Duty almost makes me want to buy an xbox 360, almost, however, patience is virtue and hopefully, the PS3 will blow the xbox out of the water.

    LCD TVs?

Chee is also right, however most of the tv's I deal with all have have 720 P, and 1080 I, but only the Sony XBr's right now have 1080 Progressive scanning. Also if your pops has a dvd player, tell him to get one with an HDMI output/input and progressive scan, this well ensure him that when watching DVD's he'll be able to watch them in HD. Another thing is, does your dad have satillite or cable? Because unless your TV has a built in HD tuner, like i was talking about before, you'll need a special satillite receiver/ cable box to receive HD. The receiver/box will come with a set of audio red/white cables and a cable with 3 plugs red, green, blue. The red/green/blue are your component cables, these cables are the ones that allow you to receive the HD signal. However, if you're TV has the HDMI or DVI input, like chee said, you can replace your component cables with the HDMI or DVI. THe HDMI cable is the new one. Basically instead of running audio and component cables in, you now can run just one simple HDMI cable. THe DVI on the other hand is just like a monitor cable, it's bigger, and you wil still need to run audio cables. Don't worry though most good HDTV's will have at least one if not both and more than one of these inputs.

    LCD TVs?

Ok The main things first. What size TV does your dad want? Also 800 pounds would be around 1600 which can get him a whole range of TV's. Unless your dad wants to replace his tv every 6 years avoid plasmas. They're lifespan is around 50,000 viewing hours, which if watched daily is roughly translated into 6 years or less. So the next thing is, how much space does he have for the TV and how far back will he be viewing it, rule of thumb is multiply the screen size by 3 and that's how far back you should be viewing it. If you dad has a decent amount of room there are two options, a HDTV, CRT TV (aka picture tube) or LCD/Projection. Both will last at least 10 years, the problem is LCD/projections don't come smaller than 42" Anything smaller, your best choice if he had the room would be say a 30,32,34,36" CRT HDTV. The best would be Samsung Slimfit TV, with the HDTV Tuner already built into it. However, Sony's are nice as well in the department and some might have the tuner already built in. Ok So lets say your dad, doesn't haev the room and wants to mount it on the wall. LCD would be the only plausible choice. Sizes range from the 26" to 42" Sears, the store i sell at, actually sells the samsung you posted, and It's very nice. Infact, it's the same lcd the Microsoft had displayed with the Xbox 360. Microsoft would never allow a shitty lcd to display their Xbox360 now would they? Anyways so In terms of LCD's look at Sharp Aquos HD, Any Sony HD LCD (Bravia, Vega, XBR) The Sony XBR lcd's are the top sony LCD's. And the Samsung model you posted, of course they have a 32" of that as well. Really though if your dad and you can go out to a store to see the TV perform i reccomend you do that. All of the numbers don't mean jack, as most specs of TV's are the same because they're all standard. Another thing you want to look for is if the TV has an HDTV Tuner already built in the tv, There are alot of TV's that are capable of showing HD at different scanning rates, but only the top TV's have tuners built in. I.E. Sony XBr's, Sharp Aquos LCD's. Anymore questions, i'll be more than happy to ask, this was kind of a basic rundown when customers ask me what they might need. there's also another for of TV's known as DLP, digital light processing/ MP Micro projection, but they're just overhyped and suck.
