  1. Hey guys. Unfortunately, Rucker's UPR 2 has proven to be really elusive for me. As a result, I can't get the entire "cut it up fresh" sample. Can someone record me the sample in 320kbps format so I can scratch it in Serato? Thanks for any help.
  2. hahahaha, thanks brother. I might take a picture of the area around it as well. The mess is worse than that picture, actually.
  3. My room and setup at my house at college. My friend's drums that he put in my room since he lives in an apartment. We jam sometimes. My turntables and DJ/production laptop, running Serato at the moment (mostly runs Fruity Loops when not running Serato). Close-up of turntables and laptop. That's where my pedals are. Boss RC-20XL Loop Station for looping sequences and DigiTech DigiDelay for adding echoes to my scratches and stuff. Interesting shit. Bought like, $40 worth of cables so that they could work with my turntables. The mess of wires behind my mixer. It would have been even worse if I zoomed out a little. My entire table with my turntables, DJ/production laptop, and school laptop.
  4. I got two HOSA Y-cables, dual female mono RCAs to mono 1/4", this one: http://www.hosatech.com/hosa/products/ypr-103.html And I hooked up two of Livewire's 5' metal plated dual RCAs-to-dual RCAs from the female RCA inputs on the Y-cable to my FlexFX section (one into each Y-cable). The RCAs look like these: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Live-Wire-RCA-...190-i1166759.gc They look like that, except they are not patch cables and one of the RCAs is red, one is black. I then put RCA-to-1/4" plugs on the RCAs going into my FlexFX section since the inputs in the FX loop are 1/4". As for the 1/4" parts of the cable, I hooked up the one coming out from the SEND of the FlexFX section into the input on the DigiTech delay pedal. I used a 1' angled instrument cable as a patch cable from the output of the delay pedal to the INST input on the RC-20XL. I used this one, the $7.99 version: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Live-Wire-Adva...818-i1128388.gc I then hooked up the 1/4" end coming from the RETURN into the output of the RC-20XL. I hope that made sense.
  5. Alright guys. I finally got the right cables and now it works beautifully. Thanks for the help.
  6. Thanks guys, thanks FatNipples. So should I just get a dual mono 1/4" to mono 1/4" Y-cable? I'm not sure I know exactly what a single 1/4" tip-sleeve is...
  7. I have got both the Boss RC-20XL and DigiTech DigiDelay guitar effects pedals for my turntables. My DJ mixer is the Rane TTM 56. The Rane TTM 56 has a FlexFX section, which is the FX loop section. The inputs are 1/4". The insert cables I am using are Y-cables, RCAs (Red being TIP, Gray being RING), and the other end is a single 1/4". I hooked up one of the insert cables to the Effects Send, using the Red and Gray RCAs plugged into RCA-to-1/4" plugs, and plugged THOSE into the Send inputs on the Rane, and plugged the 1/4" end into the input of the RC-20XL. I did the same with the RETURN, except plugged the 1/4" end of the cable on that one into the Output of the RC-20XL. When I switched the FX switch to on though, I noticed that he sound only comes out on the left monitor! When the FX are on DRY, they come out of both monitors, but when the FX are on WET, it only comes out of the LEFT monitor. I noticed the same thing happened with the DigiTech DigiDelay pedal. I'm pretty sure it's not the pedals, it's most likely my cables, right? Thanks.
  8. Hey guys. I accidentally bought two Hosa dual RCA to single 1/4" Y-cables online because I need my RCA outputs on my Rane TTM 56 to go into the single 1/4" input on the Boss RC-20XL, as well as the other cable going from the single 1/4" jack output of the RC-20XL into the RCA inputs of my monitors. However, I do not know whether the RC-20XL's INST input or the Output are stereo, but it would probably be okay to use the insert cables, right?
  9. Hey guys. I have a question. Would it be okay to run Serato and Ableton on the same laptop, or would stuff be unstable as hell? All I would be doing with Ableton is triggering samples from an MPD24, and I'd be scratching or mixing on Serato. And the laptop I would be using would be a 1.66GHz Core 2 Duo, 1.5GB RAM Dell E1505. Thanks for any help.
  10. i don't massively understand the difference between warped and heat damaged. when i say i don't massively understand, what i mean is i don't understand. That made me lol.
  11. I would definitely get the Citronics if they were in the US, or the Reloop turntable which is basically the same (forgot the model name and number), but alas, they are not. I'm not getting the Stanton ST-150 for reasons which I would rather not go into. I have actually been thinking about a pair of TTXs. As for the mixer, I would probably get an Ecler HAK 360, unless that's too expensive, since I don't know how much they cost in the UK. All I know is that they're getting cheaper here in the US, and they have to be imported overseas from Spain. If it's too expensive, I would look into the Mackie d.2, I've heard lots of good things about those (although a few bad things as well). As for the cartridge, the M44-Gs are nice for sure, but I would get some type of Ortofon DJ cartridge (besides the Pro S models). I have a pair of M44-7s, but I hardly use them now because of the Q-berts, which I like a lot more. I've also had the Elektro in the past, which I like a lot. They're also probably cheaper in the UK since we have to get Ortofons imported from overseas as well. My suggestions.
  12. Dope shit, where is that beat from? It sounds so familiar...
  13. Alright, I'll keep that in mind in case I want to edit it, thanks.
  14. Hey guys, I made a new drum n' bass track, entitled "Out of Reach." Link below, please critique. Out of Reach
  15. How is the Focus Fader anyways? I was thinking of putting one in my Numark mixer...
  16. Okay, I have mostly everything I want in terms of music gear, so here is my studio with it all: My desk with Event ALP 5 monitors, M-Audio Axiom 25 MIDI keyboard, Dell Inspiron E1505 with Ableton 6, desktop computer for everyday stuff, and HP NX6110 laptop for my decks (mostly for loopers when I'm at home, it's my school laptop though). My three turntables and two mixers, as well as some records. Close up pic of Vestax PDX-2000MKII Pro with M44-7, and Numark Pro SM-1 mixer with Pro X Fade. My black 1200s with Ortofon Concorde Q-berts and Rane TTM 56 mixer. My Numark banner with some of more records and most of my toy collection, if you want a close up of anything, tell me. Enjoy.
  17. Tonight, I competed at a local turntablism battle (Last Man Standing Head to Head DJ Battle), which also ended up being one of the biggest battles of the year in the United States. I didn't do that great (I got past the prelims and got into the top 8, but there were only 10 people competing). I got my ass handed to me in the first round. However, there were a bunch of battle heavyweights, and this being only my second battle (I'm only a year and a half in the "game"), I think I did pretty well. My man Once A Month (great DJ known all over the midwest) hosted the battle. Some of the competing DJs are very well known, such as Ginsu (Chicago 2006 DMC runner-up and 3rd place in Columbus 2006 DMC), Sparechange (Chicago DMC 2006 champion, along with wayyyyyyyyy more, check here for the complete list), JP Gunnz (Seattle 2006 DMC Runner-up, Cincinatti 2005 DMC Runner-Up), Tek-Threat (3rd Place Sacramento DMC 2005, Honolulu DMC runner-up), Brown Royal (Chicago 2006 DMC competitor), among others who were also damn good (I know I forgot one or two people, but it's late). Sparechange won at the end, with some fucking sick ass disses and juggles (I myself went up against him in the first round and he kicked my ass). Tek-Threat came in second with some really dope juggles. Of course, the highlight of the night were the judges--DJ Kico (DMC 2005 US Champion, among others, go here for his complete list of battle stats), along with the Animal Crackers, who were the DMC 2004 US Team runner-ups and 2006 US Team Champions. Both Kico and Animal Crackers did showcases, which were REALLY fucking sick. Man, this night was fucking awesome, I can't wait to start practicing and putting together routines again for my next battle.
  18. Hey Matt, how is the torque on those things?
  19. To be honest, I have no idea. Ignorance, I guess.
