  1. Thanks for your insight Chris, I guess I have been misled or confused by too much information & rehearch. I just wanted everything to be in tip top shape when scratching & spinning.
  2. When you say you tightened the tonearms, with the spring adjustment what do you mean? Are you referring to the anti-skate spring/cancelling spring or whatever it's called?
  3. My current anti-skate setting is at 0 based on sure's recommendation for the N-447. That's what I'm running on my Techs 1200MK2. Thanks for the info!
  4. Thank you for your response. I was just wondering if the fact that my anti-skate was not working will affect my cartridge and tonearm performance in any way. Based on your response it appears that there's a possibility that my anti-skate may not be the culprit. I was trying to avoid messing with any of the pivots since any further damage may be irreversible. Nevertheless, I appreciate your reply. I prefer to stick with my techs though, I really don't have any extra cash at the moment to purchase a new pair of decks. Thanks again for the suggestion, I will definitely keep that in mind.
  5. Well I have been in the process of reviving my 1200MK2s. Just replaced the rca on one and had an internal ground mod performed. So far so good, except, my anti - skate doesn't work at all. In order to test my anti - skate, since I do not have any vinyl with a blank side, I simply position my counter weight all the way to the rear of the tonearm so that it's suspended & move my anti skate value from 0 - 3 & vice versa. Nothing happens there is no movement of my tonearm from the spindle to the arm rest...absolutely nothing happens. My tonearm remains at rest. As for basic/intermediate scratching, I am quite surprised there isn't much skipping at all. The needle stays in the groove for the most part. Of course it can be improved but it only jumps when intense pressure is applied with techniques such as scribbles etc. I guess my question here is: If I do have an Anti - Skate issue should I replace the fixing plate or do you think I should just replace my tonearm?
  6. There are some nice tracks in this mix. Enjoying it so far.
  7. Classic by Kanye/Rakim/Nas/Krs is quite a track. Common had a good year also but I would say Classic.
  8. I think it's just cool and kinda more interesting.
  9. I just edited with the link-totally forgot.

  11. Not saying it's 'the problem' of all problems, it's just one of my frustrations with being a dj. To me, it's the only one thing that plays on my mind. Everything else in my case can work itself out. Finding yourself in the real world is an entirely different beast.
  12. Cool..never heard of the battle but congrats for catching third place.
  13. Good job Cable! That intro is tight! The one thing I noticed was that the samples on the intro were a bit too loud, either that or bring up the volume on the instrumental. Nice juggles on the Sexy Back. Pretty decent mix to me, props for the reggae.
  14. You guys ever feel like you can't find your way in this 'djing' world? It almost feels like every aspect of 'djing' has been exhausted-there is nothing new and innovative that any one dj can possibly create or even re-create. There are great djs out there, I have no doubts about that but one has to wonder how some of them stay ahead of this game. Is it because most of the top djs have developed some unique style or have created something that we all implement into our styles today. I guess my point of this thread is just to express my current frustration with 'djing.' There just seems to be no avenue for upcoming or even seasoned djs to make a mark. Do you guys feel the same or are your experiences very different?
  15. Judging from what I've experimented with; the CP-Pro from Numark is currently at the top of my list. I haven't used Ecler's Eternal, and the Pro X Fade that I have used for about five minutes wasn't a memorable experience. I am not too crazy about Vestax's PCVs, there was some awkwardness when I gave it a test run. P&Gs are pretty decent in my book but that's comparing it to some of the older alps that I may have used in the past. So for now, I can safely state that the CP-Pro is the best fader I have used since I currently own a Numark DXM Pro.

    Badass shirts

    Nice! Thanks for sharing.
  17. i would agree chris if jazzy jeff didn't always play the same set. Jeff is nice! I haven't seen him live, so... I don't know how his entire sets go but I have seen a few short videos. Probably someday I can see the guy live, but these djs hardly tour NY and I have no idea why.
  18. For some reason, I think you hit the nail on the head.
  19. I hear that matt. In not so many words you're just doing what you feel is best for you-I'm with that!
  20. Nice one! probably more of us should buy enlargers or an enhancement of some kind. (
  21. If you're talking about general DJing - mixing and DJing in clubs - I'd say it's more to do with who you know and luck than anything else. True, as it concerns general djing but it's getting to know the important people, that seems to be the challenge-every other dj is already standing in line trying to get their chance. What about a straight up scratch dj? Having dope skills is one thing but I guess it also boils down to who you know. No? If you're talking about general DJing - mixing and DJing in clubs - I'd say it's more to do with who you know and luck than anything else. word.. Iv'e been in a million bars with a million wank dj's. I was in Ibiza back in 98 chillin in a bar and the dj was so shit my mates blagged me 45mins there & then playing his records...kinda embarrising for the guy but a great night for me. If your friends with a promotor or bar owner then you'll have an easy time of it.. its all about networking. Got ya! I believe this is one of the reasons I hardly go out these days. I am a bit too critical as a dj listening to another.
  22. I see. That's not so bad, at least you have an idea of how many peeps checked it.
