Steve
Certain types of spyware install software called Layered Service Providers on to your PC. These files embed themselves into something called the TCP/IP handler - basically files on your PC that make the Internet work. Sometimes if you use a program like Ad-Aware to remove spyware, you can be left without Internet access due to the installation and subsequent removal of the LSPs. This is where LSP-Fix is useful. Download the program from THIS site. Run it and check the box that says "I know what I'm doing". If LSPs are the cause of your lack of connection, you should see some files listed in the right-hand window. If this is the case, hit the Finish button, then reboot your PC. Your Internet connection should now be functional again. If it isn't, you may possibly have to follow the procedure on THIS page. It's unlikely this will happen to you, but LSP-Fix is only a small application and it's worth keeping just in case.
