RECORDING STREAMS TO DISK WITH WINAMP

You used to be able to use the Disk Writer plug-in that's built into Winamp to stream audio direct to a wav file, but they've stopped that now for legal reasons. Here's an alternative way to do the same thing.

First off, install these two plug-ins. Technically you don't need the first one because you can still use the built in Disk Writer plug-in, but this one has better options: -

.:. FILE WRITER .:.

.:. OUTPUT STACKER .:.

Now start up Winamp and do the following: -

Click Options, then Preferences

In the Output part of the Plug-ins section, select the File Writer plug-in

Click Configure

Set the directory for saving the file and the audio format you want to use

Click OK

In the Output part of the Plug-ins section, select Dietmar's Output Stacker

Click Configure

Add out_ds.dll from Winamp's Plug-ins folder

Add out_filewrite.dll (*or out_disk.dll) from Winamp's Plug-ins folder

Click Done

Click Close

Whatever you play in Winamp will now be streamed to your selected location in the format of your choice.

*Use this option if you want to use Winamp's own Disk Writer plug-in.
